[quote]Nixon said while one club who was previously interested in recruiting Cousins was put off by Demetriou's statement, that has not been the case elsewhere.
"Quite the opposite," he said. "I met with a club today and we discussed it and we all thought that it's actually quite an incentive to make sure that Ben complies."
Nixon said there are still two AFL clubs

it seems one club is real frontrunners but Nixon wont say
he said one club has come up with a VERY DETAILED plan on how to cope with bens addiction and how to make it not happen
and he was Extremely impressed by it all.
so either the pies or saints are very close to getting him.

One of the clubs - Nixon declined to specify which one - had gone to the extent of developing a plan to help with Cousins' rehabilitation and wanted to put it before the commission as part of the case for his return.
A club yesterday presented to me a fairly detailed plan of how they think they can assist Ben in football and life going forward," Nixon told Melbourne radio station SEN on Wednesday afternoon.

Collingwood Not Interested in Cousins
Collingwood has declared it is out of the race to secure Ben Cousins.
It's interesting that the club believes it is not one player away from a premiership too.

After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!
Collingwood rules the world again and Mick Malthouse fulfils his destiny with the twenty ten premiership and can you hear the people sing!

Well, to be honest magpie greg, I think the club was very interested but has decided the potential damage was too great. If the club doesn't believe it can win a premiership in the next two years as the writer suggests, then Cousins's
value is limited.
The fact that no club seems to think ROK is good value at $600,000 suggests this year's draft must be a ripper.
Collingwood exited the O'Keefe deal weeks ago did it not?

Magpie Greg.....Spot on!
The press had to have a beat up story to fill their papers and sports reports each day, none better than Cuz/Magpies.
The best way to read the paper. Read quotes only, not much any1 says. That's why they make their own judgment on happenings which is usually far fetched from the truth.

FFS, I knew this would happen! I was just listening to triple m on the way home from work and heard that Collingwood was not interested in The Cuz. Such a dispapointment that we will not see Benny in the black and white and more than likely another draft and trade week going by without snaring any high profile players. Medhurst is a star but came as a big surprise packet really because he was out of favour at Freo and I am happy with this but soooooooooooo many high profile players we are always linked too in the lead up to the trade and draft weeks and sooooooo many players we have NEVER GOT!!! Its starting too shit me really bad, they would want too be trying very hard to get O'Keefe.
Good luck too Benny if he returns, hes still one of the best!!!
