Wedding songs, funeral songs

Post by mel_kay39 »

Just for fun, cos it's so boring without footy, what are the songs you want to have (or did have) at your wedding, and what song would you have played at your funeral? This was a subject brought up at our table at my brother's wedding, and it caused a lot of laughs.
As far as I'm concerned, I'd have Thank You by Dido at my wedding, as well as You're My Best Friend by Queen; and at my funeral I've told my partner I want Time of Your Life (Good Riddance) by Green Day.
A Pie for Life.

I walked down the aisle to the instrumental theme music of St Elmo's Fire. We had Kylie's "Love at First Sight" for our dance song. (We had everyone up on the dancefloor - it wasn't just the two of us).

At my funeral, I want "November Rain by G n R and also "When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne.
After Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF.

i want my wedding song to be 'float away' by a friend of mine, scott mellis.

you can check it out at http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Artists ... istid=4240 and listen to it online, its the 3rd one on the right.

i remember a couple of years ago when i told him how much i loved it and wanted it as my bridal waltz song, he said he would change it to a death metal version, lol.

Wow, I've never thought about it. I can't think of a song that I like that is meaningful enough. Can I have the Salmon Dance at my funeral?

Pirate skulls and bones
Sticks and stones and weed and bombs
Running when we hit 'em
Lethal poison through their system

Funeral - any old dirge will do. "The Funeral Party" by The Cure is rather apt.

Two pale figures
Ache in silence
Timeless
In the quiet ground
Side by side
In age and sadness

I watched
And acted wordlessly
As piece by piece
You performed your story
Moving through an unknown past
Dancing at the funeral party

Memories of childrens' dreams
Lie lifeless
Fading
Lifeless
Hand in hand with fear and shadows
Crying at the funeral party

I heard a song
And turned away
As piece by piece
You performed your story
Noiselessly across the floor
Dancing at the funeral party

I'd actually go for "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen if it wasn't such a cliche.

Wedding - "Dancing" by Elisa is a lovely song. "Run Wild" by New Order also comes to mind.

I am walking down the aisle to 'November Rain' by Guns & Roses. I've been saying that ever since I've known that song.. It's such an awesome song :D

My wedding dance is going to be 'Your Everything' by Keith Urban (Surprise, Surprise.. It's a Keith song!)

The first time I looked in your eyes I knew,
That I would do anything for you.
The first time you touched my face I felt,
What I never felt with anyone else.
I wanna give back what you've given to me,
And I wanna witness all of your dreams.
Now that you've shown me,
Who I really am.
I wanna be more than just your man.

I wanna be the wind that fills your sails,
And be the hand that lifts your veil.
Be the moon that moves your tide,
The sun comin up in your eyes.
Be the wheel that never rusts,
And be the spark that lights you up.
All that you've been dreaming of & more,
So much more.
I wanna be your everything.

When you wake up,
I'll be the first thing you see.
And when it gets dark,
You can reach out to me.
I'll cherish your words,
And I'll finish your thoughts.
I'll be your compass baby,
When you get lost.

I'll be the wheel that never rusts,
And be the spark that lights you up.
All that you've been dreaming of & more,
So much more.
I wanna be your everything.

I wanna be your everything.
I wanna be your everything.

At my funeral, I want the Collingwood theme song, any song of Keith's, and 'The Dance' by Garth Brooks..

It is one of my most favourite songs of all time, and the video clip ALWAYS makes me shed a tear or two.. The song, as wikipedia puts it, is written with a double meaning both as a love song about the end of a passionate relationship and the lyrics also work to tell the story of someone dying because of something they believe in, or a moment of glory.

The video clip features footage of people who have died for a dream they have.. It shows footage of Lane Frost, Keith Whitley, Martin Luther King Jr, the crew of the space shuttle Challenger, JFK, and John Wayne.

Looking back on the memory of,
The dance we shared beneath the stars above.
For a moment, All the world was right.
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye?

And now, I'm glad I didn't know,
The way it all would end. The way it all would go.
Our lives are better left to chance.
I could have missed the pain,
But I'd of had to miss the dance.

Holding you, I held everything.
For a moment, Wasn't I the King?
But if I'd only known, How the King would fall,
Hey, Who's to say you know I might have changed it all.

And now, I'm glad I didn't know,
The way it all would end. The way it all would go.
Our lives are better left to chance.
I could have missed the pain,
But I'd of had to miss the dance.

Yes, my life is better left to chance.
I could have missed the pain,
But I'd of had to miss the dance..

Garth also has another video that makes me cry.. It's called 'The Change', and all the footage in the video clip is from the Oklahoma City bombing. It is sooo sad.. :(

Love always, Alyssa xoxo

So tasteful :P

Better not die in the Emirates then, right? I don't think strippers and funerals go together over there. I don't think strippers and anything go together over there.
