Hey Alf,
i was looking at your list of favourite songs and was suprised not to see a song by nick cave and the bad seeds.

Because wasn't it you on the bigfooty boards who said they were one of your favourite bands or something?

You're right, Nick The Pie Man. It was remiss of me not to mention Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (or the Boys Next Door ... or the Birthday Party) among that list. I was writing it pretty much off the top of my head and it was just an oversight. I did say there were many more where that last lot came from, so to correct my carelessness

"Dive Position", Boys Next Door
"Death By Drowning", Boys Next Door
"Shivers", Boys Next Door
"She's Hit", Birthday Party
"Nick The Stripper", Birthday Party
"Up Jumped The Devil", Bad Seeds
"Do You Love Me", Bad Seeds
"Red Right Hand", Bad Seeds
"City Of Refuge", Bad Seeds
"I Let Love In", Bad Seeds

rash,

Yeah, The Specials were a great band. Part of that ska/reggae/punk scene in the early 1980s that also included Madness, UB40 and others.

You might also remember a song called "Mirror in the Bathroom". I've been racking my brains trying to remember who did it. Any ideas?

Alf, I think it was by a pommy band caled the Beat, who traded in Oz as The British Beat. If I recall the LP cover was a black/red/white screen printy type thing. I think I've got most of the stuff on your list, bar Cilla Black, who I cannot stand!

Whoever made the call about Hot August Night was spot on. It's a great long distance drive CD.

The days are pretty short here now, (and it hasnt stopped peeing down for ages) so I move into my winter depression/homesickness bout. I love to crank out stuff like The Celibate Rifles, Hard Ons and Black Flag to cheer me up a bit. The ol Cosmic Psychos are always worth a blast too. I also got some great stuff by total dorks like Dean Martin (That's Amore fame) and performers of his ilk. Always good for a laugh!

reminds me of a billboard I saw whislt in La advertising a local radio station. Less music by dead people.

If you like 2pac, check out Notorious BIG, or Body Count (Born Dead from a few years ago is awesome on 11)
