I'm an AFL member with Collingwood package.
I'm so angry with the AFL's treatment of its members that I've been considering leaving and becoming a Social Club member instead.
I visited Vic Park yesterday and oh...what a difference 12 months makes....The Bob Rose Stand (Social Club) has disintegrating guttering with rust and weeds growing everywhere.
This is our flagship!!!!
It certainly looks like they've given up on the place and will announce a new home soon.
So those rumours about Olympic Park and new headquarters and training facilities looks spot on.
I wouldn't mind betting they'll announce this at the AGM on Dec 14th.
Now back to Social Club membership.
I notice the latest mail-out says **guaranteed Grand Final ticket if we ever make it, but what off other finals?
I happen to be optimistic and believe we'll make the finals regularly from 2002.
If I give up my AFL membership and join the social club, is there any provision for OTHER finals tickets??
Any social club members here who can help out with this info???

I tell u now--> forget the stinking AFL memberships if u want a grand final ticket buy a couple of club memberships like i do then u got a heaps good chance to get a finals ticket. Anyway whats all this worry about finals ticket they r shit easy to get once u work out the system trust me!

I'd be very, very wary of the claim that Social Club members are guaranteed a Grand Final ticket if Collingwood makes the Grand Final.
It is clearly a piece of false advertising. The Club is in no position to be able to make such a claim.
Last I heard the number of Social Club members had gone past 8,000. But it is quite possible that, in the event of Collingwood making the Grand Final, the number of tickets available could be less than that (depending on who our opponent happens to be).
So, unless a Grand Final ticket guarantee is actually written into the contract when you renew your membership (WHICH IT ISN'T) then all that talk about guaranteed Grand Final tickets if we make the Grand Final is just another empty promise.
The Club is clearly trying to drum up extra Social Club membership by telling porkie pies.
I really don't think you can trust anyone in football these days. The AFL are beyond the pale, but (in terms of sheer dishonesty) I think Collingwood must closely challenge them. Our football club is, basically, full of shit.
I haven't renewed yet. And I'm seriously thinking of giving them the arse. I've had a gutful of their lies and bullshit.
As for the OTHER finals, it's usually not too hard to get tickets these days. The Preliminary finals have become (in a sense) the "People's" finals, along with the Ansett Cup Final. I don't think there have been many sell-outs in recent years. The ridiculously high price of tickets tends to discourage a lot of punters. But there's usually enough tickets for the members of both competing clubs ... though it is possible, in theory, for some to miss out. An Essendon-Collingwood semi or qualifying final could present some problems maybe. But the good thing about the lead-up finals is that you don't have so many of the once-a-year corporate "suits" who go there to do business deals and crawl up each other's arses.

Good point ALF--->I was almost tricked when i seriously thought about getting social club just for granny tickets. Perhaps if i didnt have so many other memberships to buy i would. I think it would be very interesting to see if these guaranteed tickets r really guaranteed! Why is it every year with the memberships catalogues that u really have to read beyond the fine print! 
Yeah Emma i remember that stupid chick who was so despo to hang round us so she held all our stuff and tagged along us all night hahahaha. Then remember at the Yarra how she tried to fu@k every guy that went past lol then she said she was 18 or something when she looked about 12 lol stupid poor girl. What about when she asked where we usually sit at the footy so i told her some spot that we never even sit in! lol. Kylie or something wasnt it??? i think i had her number somewhere we should ring the schitzo up!
