Could you Imagine the Media around Collignwood and Fev if we did Trade for him
Exactly.

He may miss some pre season - as when Gelo (Dad) get's a hold of him he will get a real old Italian kicking :D

This may be his last chance and I would be tipping a heavily incestive based contract will exit clauses.

If we can land him don't be surprised if he kicks a ton in 2010.
An incest based contract?

I don't give a &^@$ about the bad press, maybe he knew the club was going nowhere and thought this was his only out . He could change his ways, not that I'd care anyway.
I think Carlton have finally decided Fev = No Premiership, franki. And I think they're right. Why would they shop him otherwise?

It's not just about the off-field stuff, although obviously the Brownlow performance was the last straw.

He's a very talented frontrunner, and a highly disruptive influence.

No

We are not, I repeat, not a realistic Premiership chance over the next 2 years. Get your hands off it and remember how far off we were from Geelong and St Kilda this year. Fevola will not make all the difference in bridging that gap.

All he will do is stifle the development of Chris Dawes, the player we need to stand up from 2012 onwards.

Be nice to have a proven, norm smith winning goal kicker keeping the spot warm for Dawes until then.

I don't WANT to have to wait 3+ more years for a shot. I WANT it IN the next 3 years.

Nothing wrong with that.

Sultan of spin wrote:No it is not grandstanding by Carlton, if this was the case they would have said we will look to trade Fev if we can find a suitable offer not that he definitely gone and he would not be saying he wants to find a new club. FEVOLA IS FINISHED AT CARLTON
firstly, it would be great if they still taught punctuation at school.

secondly, they have not sacked fevola. they have indicated they will test the market and see if there is any interest. if there is a potential deal too good to refuse, fevola goes. if not, he stays.

not getting a deal does not mean they will sack him as that would see them receive nothing, plus they would still have to pay out the $1.4m still owing to him for seasons 2010 and 2011. that remains part of their salary cap.

any club who takes him on will be required to continue paying fev at $700k a year, as per his contract. that limits the field as only a few clubs have such room in their cap. the pies are probably one club who could afford it if rumours of rocca's salary are believed.

if carlton had stated they will seek compensation for him in the trade period but had committed to being without him in 2010 and beyond even if a trade cannot be done, then its legit. until then, its grandstanding.

i think he should go - but the announcements today are not a sacking and leave many doors open for fev to play at carlton next year. i guess we all just watch this space for the next fortnight

The Cuz was considered too troublesome. We went for a thumbs-down.

I'm hoping for a thumbs-up on the Fev 8)

The problem is, after years of not picking up big names, Collingwood supporters are like a rabid dog, waiting to attack and launch into any big name that is "realistically" linked with us.

I can't blame our supporters for responding with a bit of passion and hope, why not.

For the record, I'd love to see Fev wearing 18 or 23 next year in Black and White, but also am weary of the fact Carlton will ask more from us then anyone else.
Look, if we don't need to destroy the list and the fabric of the club to get him, of course. But in the light of day we all know it's unlikely Carlton would want to deal with us when others who are not their traditional rival finished lower than us on the ladder and will be willing to trade away their futures.

And I wouldn't be confusing passion and hope with irrational hysteria. There is an outbreak every few weeks in case you haven't noticed.
