If you want Fevola what are you prepared to give up?
Thought we didn't have enough Fev threads so here's another one!
No doubt the yay's have it but who or what are you prepared to sacrifice in order to get the deal done?
Be specific.
Personally I voted nay but can understand the majority support for us trading for Fevola.
On football talent alone no doubt he would be of benefit but at what cost to the development of others?
People assume that his presence will benefit Anthony but look a little closer and I'm not so sure.
Anthony seems best suited to playing the role of the leading forward target IMO but with Fevola in the team that position will be filled so will Anthonys development be hindered or helped by his presence?
Can Jack with his big personality play second fiddle to Fevola?
Does he have the ability to play a different role in the forward line
than that of the focal point?
Also the name Dawes has been mentioned by a few as a possible inclusion in any trade offer but is that a wise move?
If Cloke was to start next season in the same form displayed this year we shouldn't and couldn't carry him again throughout the season in such a vital position.
For me Dawes is our next best bet at CHF and arguably will already be with another preseason under his belt so if he's not there who would we turn to?
Since making my nay vote I've softened my stance a little, probably suckered in by the thoughts of others of him maybe being the difference between winning a flag next season or not or relishing the thought of him kicking a bag against the scum.
In the end it will be left to those who should know to make the decision.
Personally pick 14 or a player is the most I'd be hoping the club would be willing to give up in order to get him. Doubt that would be enough.
So to all the yay's out there, what would you be willing to give up in order to get Fevola?

That is as close to a fair trade that we could get, if any.stui magpie wrote:Play hardball with them and see how desperate they are to get rid of him. No way in a fit would I give them Pick 14 and Dawes. They can have pick 30 and Corrie or keep the dickhead.
Any more than that and we would risk losing the trade....remember Fev is gonna hit 30 soon and his best is behind him, the more I think about it the more I think no trade is beneficial for us.....just imagine being inside Fevola's head right now, its not good, guarantee ya that!!
Why risk throwing away our youngsters or high draft picks for a 1 or 2 year risky gain!?

Yay, another Fev thread.
TBH, I wouldn't give much. No way in a fit would I give Dawes, Reid, Brown or Travis or any of that ilk.
Carlton want to get rid of him, he's nearly 30 and doesn't have much currency IMO so I'd play hard ball.
2nd round pick. Take it or leave it and I won't be upset if they leave it.

Fev's going to be reported as being 40 before we know it!!!!magpieazza wrote:That is as close to a fair trade that we could get, if any.stui magpie wrote:Play hardball with them and see how desperate they are to get rid of him. The Football Department - including Malthouse, Buckley and Walsh - know a thing or two about the Collingwood Football Team and its needs going forward. Which is more than I can say for the majority of the posters in all these Fevola threads who once again are unfortunately caught in our traditional mode of big-name quick-fix hysteria. Ho-hum..... [/quote]
Dunno about this case though. Is it not strikingly obvious to you that, even from the top deck of the Ponsford, row zzzzzzzz, that we consistently fail to kick enough goals? Fev will add value to our goal kicking ability. That could be anywhere between 3-8 goals a match! They will replace the 3-8 times we don't win the ball inside 50 and the opposition rebounds and scores. Not every time of course, but Fevola is a bag o' goals forward. With supply from Leon, Dids, Thomas, Pendles, Beams, Swanny & (most of all) Sidebottom, Fev will regularly have a picnic! And then there's JA & Medders & Cloke as other options.
Excuse our collective interest in this spot on horses for courses opportunity of a Draft Week of a lifetime.
When was the last time a Coleman Medallist was put up for trade? Probably before the Coleman Medal existed!
If we get him, you'll catch on.
And yes, I have a lot of respect for our Football Dept and will accept their decision with blind faith. Be good to know their reasons and I think, in this case, the fans should be given insight to their decision, whichever way it goes.
But I would love to see our current line up with Fev in it!!!!

Fev's a forward so let's give up a forward and our pick 14. Prefer it to be Dawes or Reid. JA & Fev in our forward line, two of the most accurate goal kickers in the biz sound good to me. If Fev doesn't work out and he starts playing up then send him to the VFL........simple, no skin lost!
