Who knows what's actually happening, but I'd be much happier with Jolly than Fev for the reasons stated in the Jolly thread. However, I do grimace at the thought of giving up a Hine pick 14 for a 28 year-old no matter how good (presuming that's what it's going to cost).swoop42 wrote:Yeah just heard the same thing on ABC radio.AN_Inkling wrote:Seeing as we seem to be reporting on every comment made about Fevola's possible movements. Here's the gist of what Gerard Whately said on ABC radio:
- Fevola definitely to be gone from Carlton. Blues want him out, no matter what they get in return or how much of his contract they must continue to pay.
- Jolly looks to be going to Collingwood.
- Collingwood out of the running fror Fevola now that they seem to be getting Jolly.

^ Agree, though i dont want dawes to go, one paltry flag in fifty long, long years is enough reason alone to get a 100 goal goal kicker, and a proven one at that.

^People(media) have to remember that in regards to Fevola it wont solely be about what clubs have to offer Carlton in terms of players/picks that will decide where he ends up but the amount of his wage they will be willing/able to absorb into there salary cap.
This is an area that perhaps will still allow us to land both Fevola and Jolly.
As for your concerns regarding giving up pick 14, I guess if that's all we had to give up to secure Jolly then you could take comfort in our belief we have secured two 200 game players for ourselves in Sidebottom and Beams last year.
Add them to the other promising but not yet proven kids then perhaps nows the perfect time to add one or two proven experienced players to that group.
As for what might secure us Fevola assuming pick 14 is used on Jolly you'd think we would have to cover the majority if not all his wage and perhaps offer them Dawes and or Fraser(both would be expendable with Fevola and Jolly at the club).

Or Chris Bailey's shout of "Where's the professor?" on the Saints' Know Your Product. Appropriate title, in this case. If Fev does end up at the Pies, God forbid, I'll probably be calling out "Where's The Professor?" too, every time Didak gets it forward of centre...watt price tully wrote:Ponting at least has half a brain. Fevola however is a different case in point. To quote WC Feilds: they're intellectual opposites - Ponting/Didak (insert your're own name) are intellectual & Fevola's opposite. (Could've been Mae West). Mind you neither Mae West nor WC Fields could play full-forward.think better wrote:I've always thought that silly players have to have their Rick Ponting moment before they realise they need to change.
Remember Ponting was always seen as a great player early in his career but not a captain - then he got in a big fight in Kings Cross and immediately changed his ways. I remember the press conference he did when he siad he had a problem and needed to change, and then did.
Didak and Shaw have had a similar moment last year and the club's response to that I always thought was right.
I don't think Fev is too bright but I think being told to go by Carlton may be the best thing to happen to him - and the next club gets the benefit of that.
Malthouse is very good at dealing with things like this - he had Chris Lewis early on managed to keep him in check - and there has been several examples at Collingwood.
I was initially in support of Fevola coming to Collingwood, I'm currently against the idea - I think the -ves outweigh the +ves.
Jack Spain may well be correct regarding Patrick Smith - makes it up as it comes along - but if the ingnoramus Fevola did come to Collingwood I will sure as hell be barracking for him in our team & call him the professor! (Not as good as Keating's "well done professor" to the hapless Hewson).
But I still hope not.

Fair enough on Jolly for pick 14 - you could get me over the line on that as much as it stings. But I would say by definition that will rule out the latter.swoop42 wrote:^People(media) have to remember that in regards to Fevola it wont solely be about what clubs have to offer Carlton in terms of players/picks that will decide where he ends up but the amount of his wage they will be willing/able to absorb into there salary cap.

Now we are not getting Fevola I think I'm wavering to want to get him!! Oh god help me (despite being an atheist) One minute I want him & the next I don't....AN_Inkling wrote:Seeing as we seem to be reporting on every comment made about Fevola's possible movements.
