The race for Fev is not very hot is it? Looks like the only teams interested could be Hawthorn or StKilda, whichever misses out on Burgoyne (neither of which will be desperate given their already strong forward lines), and an at best half-interested Collingwood, who are much more keen on Jolly. I guess you could throw Port in there too.
It's only early, the deal won't be done till Friday, but doesn't look as if there will be a clamour of clubs willing to give Carlton what they'd want. I don't care where Fev goes, as long as it's not Collingwood, just hope the Blues don't get a good deal. Even better if they have to keep him.

As i said before, pick 30 or the Scum can keep him.
The Scum must already be panicking that the other clubs have not beaten their door down with offers of a first round plus 1 up and coming youngster.
Think Aker when dealing with Fev. A nearly 30 year old who is unwanted at his club, so why pay anything more than what Brisbane got for Aker.

I don't want Fev at our club and I'm starting to breathe easier!
Eddie wants him and the majority of supporters want him if you believe the polls. The Board is divided.
This article says the Board will finalise its position over the weekend. Maxy comes out on Saturday night and says no. Maxy wouldn't say this unless it was cleared at the highest level. I reckon the Board decided Saturday some time to leave this one alone.
To all the Pro-Fev people in here, you will watch as Fev implodes again and again and thank your lucky stars that Collingwood said no.
Brisbane never made start line in Fevola race

Article from: The Australian
BRISBANE yesterday denied it has ever been in the hunt for Carlton bad boy Brendan Fevola, who still remains at large, with Collingwood weighing up its options this weekend.
The Lions quashed media reports yesterday that they were the frontrunners for the Coleman medallist. "He's never been in our plans and it won't be happening," a club spokesman said about the potential trade next week of the Blues' seven-time leading goal kicker to Brisbane. The strongest bite yet to come Carlton's way has been from Port Adelaide on Thursday, but the Magpies will meet over the weekend to work on their priorities for this week's annual player-exchange period.
Speculation about Fevola relocating to Brisbane was largely based on wrong assumptions that veteran Lions full-forward Daniel Bradshaw was keen to finish his career with a Melbourne-based club. That won't be happening as Bradshaw, who turns 31 next month, has agreed to a contract extension that will secure him to Brisbane until the end of 2011.
Fevola is on holiday on the Gold Coast and yesterday met his management, and spoke by telephone to Collingwood president Eddie McGuire.
After consecutive disastrous seasons following a grand final appearance in 2007, Port Adelaide contacted the Blues to learn what they wanted in return for Fevola and what he would cost the Power. A Carlton official confirmed Port's interest.
However, while Port yesterday appeared to cool, the Blues have not ruled out negotiations by the Power restarting on Monday for Fevola, along with at least one other Carlton player.
Collingwood, which is understood to be holding its first national draft selection in reserve for another trade deal, will intensify its Fevola strategy as trade-week proper starts.
If Fevola becomes a Magpie, he will have to play under a strict set of off-field conditions similar to those imposed on Alan Didak in 2007.
They include no alcohol, no frequenting nightclubs, a 1am curfew, and counselling on responsible alcohol use.
Clubs are learning quickly that Fevola will not be traded away without compensation.
A rival club spokesman said: "Obviously a pick around 30 isn't going to get the deal done. More likely, a first-round selection and a player would need to be offered, before Carlton would continue to pay part of Fevola's contract." Fevola enters the second of a three-year contract with the Blues next season with the final two seasons worth $1.4million to him.
Eddie wants him and the majority of supporters want him if you believe the polls. The Board is divided.

You mean Chuck is going to be available in Trade Week? Capital! That confirms information I got from the Bootstudder's Uncle's Girlfriend's Sister's Flagellant the other week. I heard that Collingwood were after him I say let's get him! I'm tired of mediocrity and Chuck always beats his man. What an asset he will be in the clearances. And he won't stand for one premiership in fifty years either! I say throw all the kids into the deal and Presti too. With both Chuck and Fev in the team we just can't lose!!frankiboy wrote:Meh, predictable captain's talk, backing his troops, I'm not getting sucked into that one. Also interesting that they give you all the quotes without the context. For all we know they could've been asking him if we wanted to trade for Chuck Norris

Fancy me, RR and Pietillidie getting into the same bed over this one.
But I think you are absolutely right this time Neil. Fev is worse than a loose cannon. He's a suicide bomber ready to go off.
There is no way Eddie can possibly save face after the way he was publically humiliated over the Heater-Didak incident, and then turn around and welcome the biggest off-field boozer and layabout in the AFL.
Listen people, if Judd couldn't help steer a Fev goalfest to a premiership, Fev will have little impact on our chances at all.

We need to be careful with Fev. I'd love Fev at Collingwood but what price do you put on the culture at your club? After the Heater & Dids incident the club has a made a stand that most of us applauded. You want players at our club who concentrate on football and have no time for the other rubbish. We all forget how good our forward line can function. You have Jack who in his first season of football kicked 50 and showed emotion for his club. Don't forget he was picked as a Jimmy replacement until this year. You have Medders who had a terrible preparation this year and was clearly not right. Have we forgotten his 2008 season? Trav is only 22 with a terrible run in his personal life and clearly was shaken. The rest have lifted another notch. And you have a couple of boys who will get played even more. We finished 4th by playing 33? players. Who does that. The list is very young and if they can come through and develop together it will make for a very strong side.
The culture is finally great. A stand has been made. I was licking my chops at the prospect of getting Fev but the guy is a knob. Don't worry about all his big wig footy mates calling him a great guy. I've also heard about Fev's antics and they're not so favourable. You only had to listen to him on MMM and how he didn't think he needed to be worried about his playing future at Carlton. This is a guy who was told that his contract would be ripped up if he messed up again. Arrogance and naivety at it's best.
I picked Maxxy as our next captain and many laughed at me. He shows strength, passion, commitment and loyalty and is not scared to come out and speak with conviction. I picked him and I stand by him. Finally we have integrity and passion from top to bottom at our club. That other idiot can stay with the scum.
What we should be doing is moving on the older ones. They hold down positions that should be given to the younger ones to develop so that our age group is more even and that way mature and develop together.
Fev, stay at the scum and cause more havoc. Or, better still, go to Sydney and mess them up because I have never forgiven Sydney for letting the Lions back into to the finals of 2003 with that piss weak performance.

How does getting fev solve the problem that we get smashed in the midfield, we have no hard bodies in the midfield at all (maybe swan). That is why Jolly could be more important because he can actually tap the ball to our advantage. Quick ball movement inside 50 will create goals.
We never kicked goals in the finals because the forward entry were just big bombs in long... how is fev going to help with this issue, he is a leading forward something our midfield struggle to hit up.
I know we are improving in the midfield but we really need some stronger bodies to help us in there.

Even if we were interested in signing Fevola, it is in our interests to play it down - both in terms of keeping his value low, and signalling to Fev that he's not being brought in as some kind of saviour. The only team that is desperate here, is Carlton.
As Nick says, we have a good young forward line, that kicked more goals than Carlton this year and most other teams. We have a FF who kicked more goals than Fev at the same age. At the right price - ie. very bloody cheap, Fev may be considered by us, but, he's not the answer to our prayers, the difference maker, a player our team simply could not succeed without.
We may have struggled to kick goals against the Saints and in the second half against the Cats, but, how many did Fev and the Blues kick against StKilda? How about the Crows? Fev, much like Anthony is a lead up forward, if your midfield is strangled, as ours was against StKilda, Geelong and Hawthorn, and Carlton's was against the Saints, Crows and us he will struggle to get the ball, then sulk and hang is head. He will offer us little in improving against the few teams we have difficulty beating. Our weakness against them lies not in our forwards, but in our lack of strong-bodied midfielders. Jolly would help us there, as would a Burgoyne, but not Fevola.
Looks like the club's making the right decision, again - Oh, Fevalenko, I tipped this

Judd is a rubbish captain, and Carlton have a rubbish list. Apart from stars like Murphy and Gibbs, and a few others like Waite, Jamison and Simpson... they are pretty average.jack_spain wrote:I'm loving the way this issue has split the Nick's great divide. the captain sits on the selection committee, surely he is as qualified as anyone else to make a view abut the strength of the forward line.
How bad wud it be if he came out and said, we are shit and if we dont get fev then we are screwed.
I wonder what ppl wud think of him then.
