Geez they were great and much loved partners "in crime". Our own dynamic duo on the footy field. Wonderful stuff. Darren Millane will always be right up there with the archetype of a Collingwood footballer. Would have played in any era in any Collingwood side, no matter how great. Courage doesn't even begin to describe what Darren Millane means to most of us.MACDAICOS wrote:Dennis Banks put a memoriam peice in todays Herlad/Sun (page 70) he puts one in every year.

Geez, some very touching tributes to "The Raging Bull From Vic Park" in here, quite touching.
I was only 7 when Pants passed away and I can still remember fresh in my mind my dad telling me that a Pies player has died and it really hit me even though I was only 7 and it had kinda felt like there was a death in my family. My memory isnt that great at the best of times but when it comes too Collingwood its kind of like I have a special place where I store all of my memories and whenever me and the boys get together and talk about old times and present times, I have every great and sad memory fresh in my mind, just like it had happened yesterday. For Darrens mum Denise and brother John to come along to the Copeland and present the winner of the Darren Millane Trophy each year is a great effort and its always a pleasure to catch up with them and just have a nice little chat about the Pies and tell them how great our Darren is!!!
I remember we hired a brand new Toyota Camry in 1991 to head down to Geelong to watch the round 24 match. We had too win to make the finals that year but we didnt. I still have the recored from that game and it was Pants's last game before he and his best mate would pull one of the biggest shennanegans that any of us had ever seen. A little while later, the toughest and one of the greatest footballers to ever wear the Black and White was gone. It was a dark day for the Collingwood Football Club and its many supporters who all loved Darren and it still cuts VERY deep everytime we ever talk about him now. Its like talking about a Grand Final that we were robbed in and when thinking about it youre eyes go all glassy and you just want too cry! You are still missed Darren and your stories will be forever told to many generations.
42 FOREVER!!!

Agreed but would also like to see a renewed effort by clubs and players to look at the role of alcohol and drink driving in deaths of young people. Like it or not, players are role models in society. If we can stop just one young person, whether it be a player, supporter, whatever - from dying the way Pants did, then it's a win, in my book.
