Never seen the Pies at Vic Park so Hopefully get some good Memories next season

My favourite story is when Daicos kicked his goal of the year against Richmond in 1991, all the Woodsmen (who we sat near) were still at their half time break on the piss, and they missed one of Daic's greatest goals.

I remember the reaction from the Social Club was tremendous, if there was a spot to kick a great goal at Vic Park, that was the place, right in front of the crushed in group in front of the Social Club.

To DTM i feel sorry that such a passionate supporter as you did not see a game at Vic Park. The atmoshere was closer to the Collaseum than a football stadium I started going there in the late 50's and it was a real working class spectacle/ Today at a place like the MCG it is cold and sterile. During a match this season I saw a collingwood supporter get almost ejected because he was too loud plus he swore - it maybe good for families these days but it just lacks passion and colour of which VP had plenty. My favorite memory was during one close game the collingwood trainer was running around the boundary line fanning the supporters with a towel. Today he would have got the sack for not having his mind on the job. By the way the crowd loved it.

My story is sitting on the concrete steps near the siren box and always copping a heart attack when the siren blew. Also loved walking to the ground and lining up at the gates.

never saw a game at vic park but i remember going to the 02 and 03 grand final training and the atmosphere there was huge considering it was just training.

Way back in 1971 we played the Dons there, and we kicked a record 30 goals against their 7 goals. When wayne richardson kicked the record goal, trennery cres end, beer can hill, my mate and i were at the back of the goals, and it went right out the back of the ground, bounced on the road. Being young teenagers, we bolted, grabbed the footy, and took off down the road, laughing at an old bluecoat guy chasing us, yelling out "Bring that ball back you young bastards.!! " We took it too the Pub, the Retreat, toasted it with four pots, then home to watch the replay with the 30 goal ball sitting on the tele. Sadly, my mate lost that ball.
Those were the days, great memories of Vic Park like that one.

Back when I was 14, the old boy took me to our last game at vic park..
I remember all the pre game entertainment (reenactments from over the years) and tony shaw's pre game speech on the over sized screen.
I picked up one of the "Last game at vic park" hats (which i still have tucked away til this very day with the match record).
We got beat by the lions that day but knowing it was our last game at the venue brought a tear to the eye.

I remember Doolen's teeth nearly landing in my beer when the Cement truck cleaned him up near the goal square. Also seeing Sav and Daics do their magic and Paul Williams and Wrighty were a joy to watch at the old girl, jesus I miss those days! Footy was a lot more pure then!

I was there the day we smashed the Dons in 72, and someone set fire to the essendon floggers. ! Man, that was a hoot, i was right behind it,and the flames got huge. We laughed our heads off at the dons barrackers, who were positively spewing. The ground was packed that day, people even climbed onto the roof of the Rush stand,and fences were broken down, biggest crowd ever i saw at vic park.

I remember I could go there and watch the U19's then the Reserves and then the Seniors. Those were the days. Banks fix up Rhyce Jones in front of me was great (It was like an earth shattering kaboom).
Swans smashed us thanks to the White Maggots and I got arrested crawling across the cage the were running through as I wanted to kill them.

Walking into the social club where the whole bar had pots filled across the bar. If you asked for a Bourbon you were told to *uck off and wait.
40000 pots was the average sold at half time. Full strength and surprisingly less idiots back then.
Full stadium where it was the norm to get peed on as no one could move to get to the toilet. Throw in we ran out of beer a lot.

Highlight was having a beer with players after the game.

Lowlight moving to Lexus were we have nothing to associate with whatsoever.

^ I and thousands of others, used to pee in empty beer cans, then dump them on beer can hill. After the game, you would see poor little kids picking up cans literally full of piss aka urine, and pouring it out, then into the plastic bag. !
