Leon looked like he ensured he was at least one step away from the contest tonight. I saw this time and time again. It was pathetic, embarrassing and painful to see. Watching him after the game with his head in his lap; I think he knows it. He has never performed in the big games and never will. Even his great H&A season last year ended with an awful final series. He's lost his mojo and needs a run in the two's to see if he can get it back. Having said that, we'd be better off trying to give experience to young players that may be able to cut it on the big stage...sorry Leon I genuinely believe you never will.

Yep that's what they said on MMM. Only in the forward half though, but still, that's where it counts.thompsoc wrote:39 % efficency - was it that bad? i haven't seen the stats so that is terrible - even Barham couldn't be that shockinG!ktszyu1 wrote:Oh I know. I'm talking about the worst delivery into forward 50 in AFL history that we witnessed tonight. 39% efficiency in the second half, forward of centre.thompsoc wrote:we don't expect Barham to kick goals only to move and carry the ball forward whilst breaking the lines!ktszyu1 wrote:We have enough players who can't kick under pressure, no need for Barham. But Dick for Davis would be a start. Medhurst would be a handy addition also.

Leon was not the worse forward tonight.
He is not playing well I admit...could have in my eyes been given a run in the mid or defense.
People are complaining how bad the ball was delivered into the forward line and single Leon out as the forward that should have succeeded.
Dawes did nothing, Wood when resting did less, Cloke was the only target and he had to come upfield for most of his kicks.

I have a lazy eye and I think it is now spreading throughout the rest of my body

He wasn't necessarily worse than others tonight, like O'bree or Dawes or Macaffer or Jolly or Steele or Wood.ThePieMind wrote:Explain to me why he was worse than the others.Monco Matt wrote:Have you been living under a rock for his entire career?ThePieMind wrote:Can some one please explain why LEON needs to be singled out - Did he cost us the game - am I missing something
Equally bad performances were evident for more than half the team.
I know he is an easy target but he was one of many tonight.
Give me some objective facts - not HISTORY.
Your are just using him as the "whipping boy" otherwise.
Leon has more natural ability, skill and match winning potential than any of the afore mentioned. It is becasue of this fact and the fact that he continues to never show these attributes in games where we need them over a long period of time all the time is the reason why I and so many others rip into him. More is expected from him than he has delivered. He is giving us 30% of what he is capable of, that is too frustrating to ignore anymore.

So where did we loose it guys?? Our mids probably broke even with the clearances.
Our Back line wasn't too bad considering the quality ball coming in.
Our disposal efficiency was down markedly! Dids,Wellers,Tooves & Leon all well below 60% which kills you against a side like Geelong!
Our big forwards in Dawes & Cloke did NOT take a mark inside 50!
They where out of position at times when we bombed long so had to rely on Beams or Sidey to try and create crumbs.
Why was our forward line in such disarray?
Guys who attended the game live might be able to shed some light on the subject as you can only read so much from the telly.

Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Ok we're on the same page - he wasn't the worst, and so shouldn't be the "whipping boy".Monco Matt wrote:He wasn't necessarily worse than others tonight, like O'bree or Dawes or Macaffer or Jolly or Steele or Wood.ThePieMind wrote:Explain to me why he was worse than the others.Monco Matt wrote:Have you been living under a rock for his entire career?ThePieMind wrote:Can some one please explain why LEON needs to be singled out - Did he cost us the game - am I missing something

And we all have very high expectations of him, it is frustrating, so lets give him sometime in the VFL to find some form and/or time off to recover from injury(as suggested by Culprit).
In either case LEON is not finished, which I hope we also agree on.

The problem when we play both Geelong and St Kilda is that we stop playing to our structures.
As soon as we do this, the skill level drops remarkably.
The two teams that defeated the Cats this year were no match for us. Why? Because we still played the game on our terms. Therefore, even when Carlton and Freo came at us, we still had the confidence to keep on playing our style of game.
Against both Geelong and St Kilda, there have been large parts of the game where we were the better team. But we still never looked that great going forward. This is as much about us as it is our opposition. I think mentally, we did not believe that we could beat Geelong. The Cats gave us plenty of chances, and i can see why the Blues towelled them up.
As for Leon - for his sake as much as the teams, he needs 2-3 games at the VFL. His confidence is shot. In the past, he may have lacked the intensity, but you could never question his skills. Watching him now, he looks like he doesn't want the ball. Against Freo last week, in the last qtr he passed the ball to a teammate after marking the ball 20 metres from goal. Result? A behind. Fast forward to the Geelong game and in the first qtr he marked the ball on fifty with no one around him for 10 metres. Rather than run to 35 and kick truly, he passes to Swan near the boandary line. Result? One behind.
Have his poor finals games got the better of him? It certainly looks that way.

If he plans on performing like that against quality opposition for the rest of his career then he IS finished. If he is injured then drop him and get him right but I am not interested in watching him deliver crap anymore.ThePieMind wrote:Ok we're on the same page - he wasn't the worst, and so shouldn't be the "whipping boy".Monco Matt wrote:He wasn't necessarily worse than others tonight, like O'bree or Dawes or Macaffer or Jolly or Steele or Wood.ThePieMind wrote:Explain to me why he was worse than the others.Monco Matt wrote:Have you been living under a rock for his entire career?ThePieMind wrote:Can some one please explain why LEON needs to be singled out - Did he cost us the game - am I missing something
