Wouldn't be so certain. With Leon and Medhurst out, and Dick a fair way from ready, we're lacking a quick small forward. If Rounds were able to show some good VFL form, he'd be a small chance.

If Barham doesn't play, we should delist him. He's playing better than anyone in the VFL, so unless we think he's not up to it, then he should get a game some time soon. I'm convinced Barham would have been a better option than O'Bree for tonight's game, and I've been an O'Bree fan for years. He's simply not up to it at the moment, and shouldn't be playing.

My changes:

out: Wood (automatic again. Better happen this time), O'Bree, Anthony/Dawes (one must go)
in: Fraser (if fit, L.Brown if not), Barham, Leon (if fit, Lockyer if not)
JA and Cloke where just as Crap
No, they weren't. Jack was worse. Cloke was better - he actually marked the ball when it came his way - wasn't involved in enough contests though.
Well done boys!

It's times like these I'm glad I've got DTM on my ignore list.

In: Lockyer, Barham, Davis

Out: O'Bree, Anthony, Beams (give him a rest, it seemed he didn't have his head in the right space tonight)

It would be great if we had a lock down midfield tagger. IMO Tom Hunter will develop into this but he isn't ready to do it at AFL level, he'd be handy on a wing or half forward but we have enough of that type at AFL level at the moment.

The last couple of weeks Ben Johnson's kicking has gone back to early-mid 00s clanger style. Hopefully he comes good otherwise his role needs to be looked at.

Reid should stay in, IMO Brown should have played tonight as both Fev and Brown were always going to be able to out body Reid. Reid will be a great match up for Jarrad Grant from the Dogs and Presti will take Hall.

Macaffer should stay as a half back and not go into the midfield or half forward. Mitch Hahn or Stack will be a good match up for him.

Nonsense. Dave's ins and outs are perfectly logical and entirely predictable. For the outs, Dave always uses a precise mathematical formula:

33% whoever had a bad hair day this week
33% what Robert Walls said on TV
33% what someone posted on Big Footy
33% general prejudice
2% judgement and experience

This is how he can be 134% right all the time.

For the ins, he always selects unknown players, or players we haven't seen at senior level for quite a while. Dave prefers to select unknowns because these are the players that can be imbued with huge potential upsides. Players that have actually played a bit of senior football lately are at a huge disadvantage because they have demonstrated that they are, in reality, only human. The fringe players and the kids, well, we don't have proof yet that they are not the sort of person who has to wear his underwear on the outside and spend his evenings Leaping Tall Buildings at a Single Bound. So these young supermen get a gurnsey in Dave's miind.

If they really do get selected, then the gloss rubs off very quickly. Before too long they are hacks, duds, spuds, and list-cloggers. But that's OK. There is always another Great White Hope even when you have run out of unblooded youngsters. You just recycle them: it's not so difficult to forget about those flaws you saw when they got some games last year and persuade yourself that they have suddenly turned into Heros. This is how J Barham has made it onto Dave's list of required ins again, after being on the "never, ever again" list for six or eight months. Come back in July and Chris Dawes will be up for trade or delisting, and Lockyer the Answer to All Our Forward Woes.

All of this is why DTM drives Nicksters mad. DTM encapsulates the weekly moodswings of your average Nickster and exaggerates them larger than life. That's why we get so angry with him: he holds a mirror up to us all and that is disconcerting. And it's also why we always forgive him and welcome him back - because (sometimes it's a scary thought) Dave the Man is us.

Keep on posting, DTM. Whatever else people might say, no-one ever said your threads weren't worth reading. Hell, if it wasn't for you, to get my footy fix I'd probably have to walk down the street to buy the Age and read more of bloody Caroline Wilson. Give me a DTM thread any day!

there is no logic in your ins and outs, it is mindless!

you are bringing in 3 youngsters with no experience against a side like the Dogs, and taking out 2 veterans who had a good crack tonight.

and as for JA out, i would rather drop Dawes. The big kid has no heart or at least plays like it!!

we need a bit of mongrel in the side too, at least Leeroy provided some heart so i would drop Dawes for Leeroy.
Well they Might Try More and No Worse then some Selections that MM can make

Out: Wood, O'Bree, Macaffer, Beams (these 2 for a rest maybe)

In: Tarks, Brown (till Josh is fit), Dick and/or Medders and/or Leon (depending on fitness).

I think we really miss Tarks out there. But then what would I know! That's why I'm in the armchair and the coaching staff are in Brisbane ;)

It will depend on injuries and if players have recovered from them
Fraser for Wood
Medhurst in if OK same for Leon Dick is not yet ready

This was the worst performance I have seem from JA
Take your pick from
O Bree
Wellingham
Beams
Sidebottom
Ball
Cloke
Dawes
Anthony
Toovey

I'll hold off on making firm recommendations until I've seen the game. But a few comments on obvious errors are appropriate nevertheless.

1: Calling for wholesale changes is just stupid. By all means make some changes. But 6 or 8 outs? Get with the program, people.

2: Calling for the inclusion of players who just aren't ready is dumb. dumb, dumb. Now I am the biggest Brad Dick fan in the known universe. Years ago I went out on a limb and called him "the future of the Collingwood Football Club" and nothing I have seen since then has made me change my mind. But there is no way I am going to call for Dickie's inclusion just yet - he is two games back from a very serious injury and if you think that makes him ready to star in senior AFL football this week, you want your brain licence revoked 'cause you ain't fit to own one.

3: Reid was picked to play on Brown as a learning experience. Had to be. He was clearly outmatched body-on-body, and someone thought it would be good for him to take on a giant of the game. Me, I'd have played it safe and had one or other of the Browns in the team, but presumably MM thought it was worth risking a loss in order to bring the player on. Either that or he thought the talented beanpole could actually match it with the gorilla, and I don't reckon anyone in his position would be that unrealistic.

4: Barham has been hanging around as an emergency for far too long. Either play the kid while he is hot or send him off to the Gold Coast.

5: Lockyer has to be a better option than O'Bree at this stage. We have enough extractors in the side, we don't have enough deliverers or enough goalkickers. Lockyer is both.

6: Tyson Goldsack has been missing in action for weeks now. I don't know if he played in the twos today, but if so he is only just back. It will be weeks before he is match fit. Stop ya dreamin' people.
