Tonight, we were up against a top eight caliber team, absolutely desperate to win after 5 losses and criticism of their star player. This was always a danger game. In the end, we were ahead for 90% of the night, but were pipped at the post. Ah well, that's footy, it happens.
We were below our best, and didn't quite get up, disappointing, but hardly faith-shaking stuff for those with a bit of fortitude. The soft supporters who start flinging abuse after the loss of a quarter, and fall apart after the loss of any game, on the other hand...
This deserved to be quoted again..
Noone is happy or satisfied with a frustrating loss like that one, but the cards didn't fall our way.
One thing I'd love to see is a return of Sean Rusling into the forward line. I'd consider his speed, workrate and hands a real upgrade over the Jack-attack right now.
Dawes deserves more time...Hopefully time he can spend learning softer hands when marking.
The return of a fit and confident Leon and Medhurst will help.
Another BIG danger game against the dogs next week. Shutter to think what will happen on this board if we lose 3 in a row
