Akermanis, is just as likely going to star to shut up his distracters, and the Dogs will have something to prove anyway.

MM better make the right changes to the team this week!
MM can make all the changes in the world... its up to the players to start to kick a winning score...

for what its worth players that would come back and make a difference apart from Medhurst have either no form yet (Dick for example) or they are players that have been bagged on a continual basis... Leroy, Fraser Lockeyer to name 3.

Now that we have the team that all here seem to think is capable or our best, it is MM who is getting bagged this week.

Our forwards were smashed and by a not so good defense.

Backmen follow and tag forwards and its pretty hard for a coach to do anything move wise if a foward/s not producing, other than bench them .. so its up to them to make the leads and to take contested marks under pressure when it really counts.. or make it easier for the smalls around them.

Your right Nulla the only ins we should consider would have to be Tarks & Leroy. I don't think Fraser will be right until another week and then you would have to consider bringing him back through the VFL.

Dick is still weeks away. Medhurst when fit to play will also have to come back through the VFL. So that leaves Tarks and Leroy the only two to consider for selection.

I would also like to bring in Barham solely as a tagger. I know his disposal can be shite sometimes but if we give him a role of solely stopping the oppo's best player it will bring us more wins than not. We could of done with some one stopping Black or Power last night, they really influenced the game last night!

Need some experience, but also need to blood some fresh speedy players.
VFL has handed both on a platter, with Lockyer and Brown among the best, also barham (bog with 33 disp) and Blair - the latter also one of the best in the VFL state side the week b4. 4 perfect subs.
Drop wood, anthony (not up to it at this stage), maybe mccaff.
id leave ried in as he is better suited to the dogs. had a crack but was mismatched against the 2 power forwards.
And drop one more, can't think of who right now. Maybe a mid who needs a break, which could be quite a few by looks of it.

Reid did ok against the best CHF in the game it was a good learning experience. Having got smashed at the centre bounces the ball went into the Lions forward line quickly and accurately something that did not happen in our forward line. No backman can stop forwards scoring when that happens,

Our mids are the ones under selection pressure they positioned themselves to receive the ball not going and getting it. They all ran forward to provide someone else with options unfortunately it was the Lions who got the ball.

Our forwards were top heavy and did not mark, tackle or stop the ball from quickly being turned over.

Take your pick from a lot of players who played as badly as Leon did last week

And Neil they did not present themselves and lead into space on a regular basis.

Players like BJ had no option but to try to pin point in packs, run the ball waiting for someone to kick to or go for a chance kick that someone will take a high mark and we no longer have the talent of Rocca to take those.

Another example was when Steele had no option but to either lob the ball or handball to Harry.... where were our talls? Standing in the goal square with ten other players

To the forwards I say look at footage of Hall, Lloyd Fevola and other good leading forwards.... Price only hit Mckenna on the chest when Mc Kenna led and he too could not mark overhead.

Out:O'Bree
In:Barham
*O'Bree is finished or should be if we want to have any chance of winning a flag. 4 out of his 6 games this season he's failed to gather more than 14 possessions and you simply can't have two slowish inside midfielders with questionable disposal in your 22. Question marks remain about Barham's disposal as well but he'll provide us with something different through the midfield, genuine speed. Has a big tank, is quick and has tenacity, possibly could be used as a tagger. He's in a rich vein of form in the VFL so deserves a crack.

Out:Wood
In:L.Brown
*Leigh Brown has done all that could be asked of a player to earn his recall through the VFL. Respect. Undersized as a ruckmen but will provide a strong contest all over the ground with versatility his main strength. Needs to be more consistent at AFL level but being used as the 2nd ruck seems his ideal place within the 22.

Out:Anthony
In:Rounds
*Interesting that on 3aw this afternoon T.Shaw and R.Walls both were of the opinion that Dawes was worth persisting with in preference to Anthony.
Although I agree with that opinion for this weeks selection neither player this season is yet to make the full forward position there own.
I consider Anthony to be the pure full forward of the two with Dawes a combination of both Travis and Jack who probably offers a little more variety at this stage. Regardless of which one lines up this week they must be provided with a forward setup that gives them the best opportunity to perform. With injury concerns still hanging over the heads of Davis and Medhurst and Dick still underdone I haven't considered them for selection. Rounds is very much a wildcard selection but he has developed a knack for often kicking 2 or 3 goals as a small forward this season and appears to be a player on the rise. We're yet to debut a new player this season so in need of a spark and some youthful exuberance why not make it this week.

Players in line for demotion:Dawes, Macaffer, Toovey

Players in line for recall:Lockyer, Davis(inj?), Medhurst(inj?), Fraser(inj?), N.Brown, Dick

^ Is Rounds fit?

Persist with youth for mine but down size a touch.

OUT: Obree, Wood (maybe Anthony)
IN: Davis, Blair - I know he's a rookie but we may as well put Rusling on the long-term inj list.

When have we ever flogged Brisbane at the Gabba?

Add the Brown / Fevola combination and it always had trouble written all over it, especially coming off the Geelong game.

Lazza, out gut is on the money...
brisbane had lost five on the trot and shown very little form. brown had been struggling. we'd won 6 of the last 7 games and in that time defeated most of the teams handsomely. pregame, there was little reason to be pessimisitic about the result.
completely disagree as i said pregame.

I'd love to see Blair get a run but we'll probably have to wait until at least the second half of the season when clubs can elevate a rookie without a long term injury.

Even then it's no certainty sadly.

Rounds is nothing more than a speculative selection and it's highly unlikely it will occur this week but he's kicked some classy goals this season by all reports and appeared to be improving in his role as a small forward by the week until injury.

Has been back a couple of weeks now from a short term injury so fitness shouldn't be a major issue.

If Medhurst or Davis are passed fit they'll return with Lockyer another distinct possibility.

Disagree re: Toovey, tackle pressure etc is first class.

I am wondering what MM is going to do with Maxwell. He is just too easy to exploit.

Probably, especially considering the flight, lower legs are always requiring compression at altitude, especially if they are sore, after being exhausted the night before. It is probably in response to soreness.

Could be interesting if JA plays as he is unlikely to have Lake as an opponent who has not been kind in previous encounters.

Regarding pre-game talk of a flogging, we only need to think back to Round 2.

In: Davis (if fit), Medders (If fit), Dick, Barham

Out: O'Bree, Johnson, MCCaffer, Anthony

1 extra small. I'd continue with Wood & Dawes. Both will continue to develop and that aint in the VFL
