Wood is deadwood for sure, move over guy richards, god we can pick some duds.!! Out for me is wood, mccaffer, obree, johnno, and my Ins would be barham, medhurst, goldsack, and that promsing big kid in the vfl, give him a run, could not be worse than wood, at least until josh is fit.
Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Can't play unless he's promoted off the rookie list would be my understanding. No LTIs so no promotion.... until the following week anyway.jonesy86 wrote:If Medhurst is still out and judging by the nature of his injury could be out for any length of time, I'd be tempted to pick Scott Reed who is basically playing the Medhurst role in the VFL with good success this season.
Reed is a good mark for his size, good pace and can apply the defensive pressure Medhurst does and Anthony doesn't.
Wood needs another year or two in the ressies. He's not up to AL standard yet, meaning we are a player short with him in the team each week. Leroy is a better option, providing some much needed physicality and flexibility.
O'Bree's time is up I'm afraid. Barham is a much better option, providing us with some genuine leg speed in the middle and having been our best VFL player all year, must surely get a game this week. Currently, our midfield contains too many one-paced players - Pendles, Beams, Sidey, Ball, O'Bree and McCaffer.
Three into two don't go, so Anthony should be dropped, allowing Dawes and Cloke to provide the marking options up forward.
Ins: Leroy, Barham, Leon, Medhurst (if fit)
Outs: Wood, O'Bree, Anthony, McCaffer

I'm not sure if Wood will be dropped.
Doggies still have 2 genuine ruck options. I agree perhaps Leigh Brown could be a better option. Drop Jack and Wood and bring in Leigh Brown who can do a little bit of forward/ruck.
Looks better when we have 2 tall forwards, 1 ruck, and 1 ruck/forward. i still think Josh Fraser is the best man for this job...but Leigh Brown might be second in line.
Still, I think MM has committed to playing Wood over the next month whilst Josh is out...so we might have to grit our teeth and bare it. He does need to be fully tested and given every opportunity.
Macaffer hasn't been great...but i like his versatility against the Dogs. Could be a decent option to play on a guy like Mitch Hahn. The problem with Caff is that he should be kicking goals...but he doesn't look close right now.
Barham could be a very good inclusion given his form has been good and he has genuine pace. COuld be the matchup for Cooney.

Leighroy must come in!! can compete in the ruck, even if hes there to jump into hudson and minson.... can play forward creating a presence and if Hall gets hold of Presti (doubt it) or Presti gets injured can go and play a defensive role... Imagine a matchup od Hall and Leighroy haha
WIN/WIN/WIN
Wood can have a few weeks in the VFL so he comes back more hungry for a game and doesnt take playing AFL for granted which i feel he does with no urgency around the ground.

Leroy absolutely smashed the Dogs in round one.RICHO1991 wrote:Leighroy must come in!! can compete in the ruck, even if hes there to jump into hudson and minson.... can play forward creating a presence and if Hall gets hold of Presti (doubt it) or Presti gets injured can go and play a defensive role... Seems to have found good form in the VFL... do you banish a player for a set period or wait till he is showing good form?lois1 wrote:Don't know why people are calling for Leeroy to be called up.Has everyone forgotten how badly he was playing before he got dropped? It wasn't all that long ago.

no...but this is how Leigh Brown should be used from here on in.
Leigh Brown has shown the potential to come in and have immediate impact. HIs problem is that he can't hold form over the period of a month.
We are down right now, and could do with a tough guy coming in to throw his weight around in the ruck. At the moment our ruck divison is predictable and a bit soft. Leigh Brown aint much, but he has the capacity to upset a ruck division. Offers something a bit different to Wood and Jolly.
Only keep him in the side for 2 weeks or so until Josh is ready again or Wood regains touch.
Leigh Brown should not be considered in our top 22 in my opinion. But if his form is good, and the seniors aren't doing much...then Leigh Brown is a good pinch-hitting or hole filling option.
Just as a stop-gap. The hope will be that he gets displaced quickly.
