there is no logic in your ins and outs, it is mindless!

you are bringing in 3 youngsters with no experience against a side like the Dogs, and taking out 2 veterans who had a good crack tonight.

and as for JA out, i would rather drop Dawes. The big kid has no heart or at least plays like it!!

we need a bit of mongrel in the side too, at least Leeroy provided some heart so i would drop Dawes for Leeroy.
Well they Might Try More and No Worse then some Selections that MM can make

DTM lay off the drugs your full of shit!!

That's when Josh and Jolly were sharing the ruck. With 2 rucks, there's no room for Leroy imo. But if we use him as a back up ruckman and spare parts player, then he provides a lot more than Wood and potentially more than Josh because of his added physicality.

DTM has an opinion just like everyone else, there is no need for the abuse if you disagree.

Anyway

We have to think about who we are playing this week, dont be surprised if Aker is out they might try Roughead at CHF. If they dont then is it nessesary to have Reid in? Also since we have been anable to run through our half forward line like we like to, in the last 2 weeks maybe Barham might get a chance. Also a couple of years back Goldsak played a good game in the Forward line on ANZAC Day why not try it again.
No need to have to many talls for this one Im thinking Liegh Brown willcome in as back up ruck and used in defense if we need to. Beyond that we will go pace.

Out: Anthony, Reid, Wood, O'Bree
In:L Brown, Barham, Golsack, Medhurst (If not fit OB says in).

Ins: Leigh Brown , Dick , one of Davis or Medhurst.

Outs: Wood , JA and O'Bree

Leigh Brown has been in the bests in the VFL for the last 3 weeks. Has to get his chance. O'Bree is not a forward if there is not a spot for him in the midfield then he must go. To top heavy with JA in the forward line.
Need more speed in the side especially in the forward 50. Essendon showed on the weekend that the way to beat the Dogs is with quick directed football. Must put pressure on the Dogs Backline as they will just chip it around. So would like to see a more one on one style of defence as to the zone that we have been playing.
If we play around the boundry again this week I'm going home at half time. :x
Round 1 we took the game on. Lets see it again.
We are capable of kicking 20 goals. Who gives a toss if the opposition kicks 15.

After this game one side will be banished to the "Pretender" ranks, the other will be re-instated into the "Contender " ranks. Will the Magpies choke or will the Doggies crumble. Which side has the desperate desire to prove to the competition, themselves and their fans that they are the real deal.

I am genuinely nervous about what we will do in this one. If we piss this one away I just don't know how we can expect anyone to take us seriously. The Dogs are in the exact same boat, one of us will still be sitting in it come Sunday night.

With the possibility of us suffering a third straight defeat this weekend, I began to wonder how many, if any, premiership teams since our last flag in 1990 had lost 3 in a row during the H&A season, yet still managed to go on and claim the flag.

The results whilst not unexpected don't make for encouraging reading.

Over the last 20 years only 2 sides have been successful in claiming the holy grail after losing 3 in a row.

The most recent was Sydney in 2005 with Adelaide in 1997 being the other.

Essendon in 1993 played 3 games for 2 losses and a draw.

Significantly though the third straight defeat occured for both teams within the first 6 rounds of the season. Adelaide lost all 3 between rounds 2-4, Sydney between rounds 4-6, Essendon went L-D-L during the first 3 rounds of the 1993 season.

Interestingly during Malthouse's premiership year of 1992 his eagles between rounds 4-7 went loss, draw, a 1pt victory over Richmond, then another loss. During Collingwoods premiership year of 1990 between rounds 5-7 we had a 1pt victory over St.Kilda, a loss to Essendon, then suffered a 2pt defeat to Hawthorn.

Finally over the last 20 years the most H&A losses suffered during a season for the eventual premier is 9 which happened to Adelaide in both 1997 and 1998.

A loss this weekend wont necessarily mean the dream is over for another year but history tell's us the odds will be stacked against us.

So how about we just get out there, get the business done, get our season back on track with a victory and keep the dream well and truly alive.

If we're genuine premiership material that's exactly what we'll do.

I've been on here for quite a few years and I rarely make predictions. But I believe we can win this Sunday and will win at least the next five in a row.

If I recall we beat Dogs in Rnd 1 playing our golden oldies team. Choke the run. Since those first four games we have been exploring new generation and new gameplan mix ups. It's a fine balance, but ever onward not backward where possible.

Reid on Grant would be instructive. If he can't pull par on even that very good newbie, then not sure even his occasional zone breaking lefty would justify his retention long-run beyond the Dogs.

Up front, Lake is going to out mark and out Scarlett any tall we put up on him. Cloke likes to outrun and outbody bigguns. Neither Dawes nor Anthony are much better against mid-cruiser defenders. Two answers: play tall and decoy (eg Rocca on Scarlett couple years back), or play 'Heath Shaw' at FF.

Against Dogs I'd be tempted to keep Dawes as occasional ruck relief for Jolly, bring in Barham as an extra swift tagger (joining Jonno and Caffa on the defensive side of the mystical quasi CFC tagging arts), and probably let Locks and O'b swap a game or two - Locks being a better small forward option as well as a link player.

That might leave O'B, Wood and Anthony out. Lockyer, Barham and a yet to be declared fit player in?

Out

Assuming all fit (also assuming Medders is not fit):
OUT: Wood, O'Bree, Anthony
IN: Davis, Lockyer, Fraser

Then for Queens Birthday bring in Medhurst if fit.
