I also think O'Bree's time is just about up. We brag about depth; let's use it. And so, with great trepidation, I support the call to play Barham at O'Bree's expense. He's dominated at VFL level and he's quick. I hope to god his kicking has improved.

Anthony has to be dropped again, sorry. We were all but impotent whenever the ball hit the ground against the Lions, and badly missed Leon and Medhurst's bite around the packs. Problem is, both are neither fit nor in form, and Dick is still getting match fitness. So, here's the big question: is it time to give Luke Rounds his chance? Big risk, but we need a small man down there and he might be it. Then again, he's also underdone. The safe option is Lockyer, but he's under the pump. Geez we need Brad Dick.

Undecided on Wood. He was terrible on the weekend, but I don't quite think he's a spud. His Freo game wasn't bad. A couple of his games last year were actually really good. But maybe that's just an argument not to delist him yet. OK, bring in Leroy, he deserves another go and pulverised the Dogs last time.

Leigh Brown has been in the bests in the VFL for the last 3 weeks. Has to get his chance. O'Bree is not a forward if there is not a spot for him in the midfield then he must go. To top heavy with JA in the forward line.
Need more speed in the side especially in the forward 50. Essendon showed on the weekend that the way to beat the Dogs is with quick directed football. Must put pressure on the Dogs Backline as they will just chip it around. So would like to see a more one on one style of defence as to the zone that we have been playing.
If we play around the boundry again this week I'm going home at half time. :x Round 1 we took the game on. Lets see it again.
We are capable of kicking 20 goals. Who gives a toss if the opposition kicks 15.

We can still use the boundary with continous ball movement/ kamikaze style to convert enough goals. St.Kilda do this as often as we do it, if not slightly less than normal.

How much does it have to improve to be better than O'Brees?

Not trying to be unkind here, but Obes has never been much of a kick. Of course, O'Bree has always been good at extracting the pill with a quick, short handball to someone on the edge of the pack, but he doesn't seem to be doing that much lately either - though being played on te HFF isn't helping him. O'Bree is one of those players who - like Presti and Rusling - pretty much has to be used in the position he specialises in, and isn't a whol lot of use anywhere else.

(Though, having taken those examples, I wouldn't mind seeing Reid hold down full-back for a game or two while Presti tries his hand as a half-forward flanker. He's certainly take a good defender. Or how about Presti for FF? Who'd pay money to see the Presti vs Brian Lake show? I know I would.

I know all of this Tannin. Obes has indeed never been a great kick. It's just I fear Jaxson Barham will always be an absolutely appalling one. He did, however, pick up 33 possessions on the weekend, and I hope at least three of them didn't go to a Gold Coast player.

With the possibility of us suffering a third straight defeat this weekend, I began to wonder how many, if any, premiership teams since our last flag in 1990 had lost 3 in a row during the H&A season, yet still managed to go on and claim the flag.

i don't think it really matters unless the consequences adversly impact on form heading into a finals series or the ability to secure a top four spot.

COLLINGWOOD is a chance to recall small forwards Paul Medhurst and Leon Davis this week in a bid to address its misfunctioning forward line.

Medhurst and Davis trained yesterday and are expected to be fit for Sunday's critical clash with the Western Bulldogs. Collingwood has struggled to kick goals in recent weeks

I hope they are both fit to play.
Regardless of form, these 2 are vital cogs in our pressure inside our forward 50.
Without one of them we were down against the cats. Without both of them it was non existent against the Lions.

Surely Medhurst would/should return via VFL to regain match fitness.

Don't know if he could give us forward pressure if isn't match fit.

Davis only missed the one match so he could slot straight back in.

If Medhurst is selected it would show MM is showing signs of desperation.


He has the depth.......just needs to use it!

Medhurst is a key to our forward set up, but I worry that his stress related foot injury will hamper him all year. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd rather have him rested for another month or so and have him fit for the finals, than bring him back prematurely and have him struggle with it all year. I guess we've got to trust the club medicos to make the right call.
