To all you who have criticised Dave for knowing nothing about footy, yet claim that Rounds is no chance make fools of themselves....let me give you a little insight, Luke Rounds is a 50/50 chance this week if Davis or Medhurst do not pull up.....he has been carving it up in the VFL the games he has played this year!
The Future is always Black & White
^DTM, like me and Pied Piper have all raised the possibility of Rounds being a surprise inclusion this week.
I know me and DTM are borderline loonies but PP certainly isn't.
P.S-Although DTM went a bit early calling for the inclusion of J.Thomas I'll tell ya something f he can stay injury free and put in a solid 6-8 weeks in the VFL don't be surprised if he makes his senior debut this season.

From what i saw from Luke Rounds last week against Gold Coast,he is every chance this week, knows where to position himself, knows where the goals are,is a good finisher and has footy smarts.
Ben Sinclair is another who looked the goods after returning from injury,he should be knocking on the door for selection very soon, this kid looks like been a star.

We were? Wasn't that the game where, yeah would have been nice to win, but we didn't really care, as there's not much difference between 3rd and 4th?Lazza wrote:It was important but not as important as the final round game last year when we were so desperaste to win..........Donny wrote:Surely, the first game of the season was an 'important game' ?
Well done boys!

He will (should) be out for 8 weeks total - minimumswoop42 wrote:^They didn't last year and we all saw the results with Paul.
Playing on the hard Etihad surface when there's still some doubts about his foot doesn't seem a wise decision to me.
Keep him in cotton wool until after the mid season break.
Give Rounds a shot this week with Dick likely to be ready to resume against Melbourne if he performs well in the VFL this weekend.

Nice preview. Dave
Got to agree with you on the Aker ...... issue?..... I can't even understand why its an issue. It's only been an issue cos the club made it one. Grant Thomas on Monday night was right IMO. Why the dogs couldn't deal with this in-house is beyond me. It's a mess.
At Pieland, they're dropped because of a "calf" injury. Unless caught out by the media.
Not sure about this week. I was so confident about last week and got knocked on my arse, that this week I have no feeling about which way the game will go.
I have the feeling we are in a hole and haven't hit the bottom yet. We really needed an easier opponent this week to get confidence back (or at least my confidence).
At least last week we played really poor and lost. If we played well and lost there is more to worry about IMO.
Tackling was down a heap last week. Not only does this apply massive pressure on the opposition, but it is also a measure of a teams overall work rate and intensity (See Leigh Matthews article several weeks ago). This is a critical measure for us. Dogs are the least tackled team too. The Bombers showed what can be done if the tackling pressure is right against the dogs. They were made to fumble and turn the ball over.
Clearances need to be matched. Got smashed in this area last week. Did we win a clearance in the 2nd half? This is where games styles can be dictated. Win the clearances and that team dictates how the game is played.
Got to sort out our midfield flow forward and how the forwards present. Too often in the last two weeks have we bombed to a 2 forwards against 3 or 5 opponents. The ball is bouncing out of there way to quickly and we aren't getting enough scoring opportunities. This isn't too hard to fix either. Just need to get the tactics sorted and mix it up. Go short a few times and then a bomb.
Bombers were interesting in how they entered their 50 last week. They avoided CHF and went down the flanks and then centred (most goals from the corridor still). I assume this was to avoid a loose Lake across HB.
I think we are a better team than the dogs. But it may not show this week.
You also failed to mention this is a good old fashioned 8 point game.
Good luck with exams. Thank God they are a mere memory for me. I hated them. All nighters, or just a few hours sleep, stress, and pressure. By the time my last one would come around, I just didn't care much and nearly would "wing it". Mind you 10 exams in 2 weeks, would do anyones head in.
