It's not panic stations, we don't have to make wholesale changes, but our team was a little unbalanced against the Lions.
I agree with most people, Medhurst, Davis and Dick are going to be in our best 22 by years end (add Fraser to that as a side point), but I also wouldn't bring Medders back this week - next week if he really tears apart the VFL or even after the break. Fraser doesn't appear to be in contention this week but even so, he's a player that needs to play a lot of football, so I'd bring him back after the break via the VFL (even maybe miss the Swans game).
Dick definitly needs to wait until after the break - and then he has to earn his spot - but his forward pressure will be a great asset to the team me thinks. Davis can come straight in if he's fit, Barham and L Brown are demanding selection and Tarks is, well, Tarks.
The team is too top heavy with Dawes, JA and Cloke, Medhurst WILL be the obvious solution (or maybe Rusling ) but not this week, so one of the three (JA on form) gets dropped. We definitly need more forward pressure, so a small forward comes in for JA, and I don't think that's Barham. I'd bring in Tarks if Davis is not fit.
Dropping JA also gives somewhere for L Brown or Wood to rest when they're not rucking. Given than Wood is not setting the world on fire in the AFL and L Brown is in the VFL (albeit at FF) I'd make the switch this week - Jolly can go one out most of the game with Hudson.
Do we need two talls against the Dogs? Probably not, although some insurance for Presti is nice given Hudson / Minson rest down their a bit and Grant looks like a good kid, so I'd probably keep Reid in.
And now the only question is, do we drop OBree for Barham? If Tarks comes in, yes (a team with Tarks, OBree, Ball is going to be quite slow). If Davis comes in, probably still yes. It's time to see what Action Jaxson can do in this midfield mix.
OUT: Wood JA OBree
IN: Davis (or Tarks), L Brown, Barham.

And welcome aboard too Pants, on behalf of the more elder but wiser posters on here. I thought your ins and outs were pretty good, I too want Barham in, he has pace and would worry the doggies.Pants wrote:Thanks for the welcome comrade Pies

Collingwood must make changes
Collingwood will be kidding itself if it doesnt make some forced changes.
Players that barely preform,or are out of position,
And to use an excuse players are in as others are injured,is not an answer.
This weeks game is as important, and is a must for us.
Players like wood, obree will get circles ran round them,
Maccaffer being played out of position, and used a pinch hitter, just like dale thomas of the last 2 years.
Pace is needed against the dogs, and its something that should be looked at seriously.
Collingwood must make 3/4 changes, dont know who but i think playing 2 rucks is costing us,Jolly can play a full game, maybe have leigh brown come in for wood, and have jolly and brown rotate down foward to help dawes and cloke out.
If medhurst and davis dont come up this week, maybe play a lockyer round the packs, but as in saying that brown and lockyer aint winning any stawel gift dash's lately.
Id probably play dick,ok maybe not ready but we have to inject some pace, somewhere.
Im hoping one of davis and medders are ready,
6 pm cant come quick enough.
But if collingwood dont take risks and make a change,i suspect alot of supporters will be majorly disappointed,we are as good as the best, but need to get the right team on the park.
Lets go pies,
Im thinking a 2 goal win, depending on changes.

Maybe this is ridiculous radical thinking but does anyone else think it might be worth experimenting with positions and placing Harry O up forward and players like Wood and Cloke up back?
Surely Cloke can't do any worse goal wise and Harry hardly ever seems to miss every time he has opportunity to take a shot.

Forced changes = changes that are forced. E.g., where there is an injury or a suspension or a retirement. That's what a forced change is, one where you have no choice at all. Any other change for any other reason is NOT a forced change.
