Re: Collingwood must make changes

WITTY 35 DAICOS MAGIC wrote:Collingwood will be kidding itself if it doesnt make some forced changes.

Players that barely preform,or are out of position,
And to use an excuse players are in as others are injured,is not an answer.
This weeks game is as important, and is a must for us.

Players like wood, obree will get circles ran round them,
Maccaffer being played out of position, and used a pinch hitter, just like dale thomas of the last 2 years.
Pace is needed against the dogs, and its something that should be looked at seriously.

Collingwood must make 3/4 changes, dont know who but i think playing 2 rucks is costing us,Jolly can play a full game, maybe have leigh brown come in for wood, and have jolly and brown rotate down foward to help dawes and cloke out.
If medhurst and davis dont come up this week, maybe play a lockyer round the packs, but as in saying that brown and lockyer aint winning any stawel gift dash's lately.

Id probably play dick,ok maybe not ready but we have to inject some pace, somewhere.

Im hoping one of davis and medders are ready,

6 pm cant come quick enough.

But if collingwood dont take risks and make a change,i suspect alot of supporters will be majorly disappointed,we are as good as the best, but need to get the right team on the park.

Lets go pies,

Im thinking a 2 goal win, depending on changes.
Sorry for picking one on small part of your post, but I can't believe some people still haven't clued into the fact that MM playing Dale all over the ground the past 2 years has been the making of the player we now have. Maybe, just maybe the same theory / attitude is being applied to Macaffer who has all the hallmarks of being an excellent utility player for the Pies in the future, as long as he's properly developed for the future.

Again apologies for the thread diversion, now back to the topic people :!:

For those saying Rounds should come in, have a read please.

http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/newsfea ... fault.aspx
37. Luke Rounds (10k, 4h, 2g, 5t): Kicked some nice goals. His forward pressure was terrific. It was his first game back since coming off a shoulder injury so he was probably a little bit underdone and will be better for the run.
Based on that I'd think he'd need to string a couple more together at least. But it is promising. Next week against the Dees may be a good debut game.

My changes are:

Tarks in for Jack.
Barham (needs to be effiecent with kicking to hold his spot) in for O'Bree

Wood is on notice. Poor one this week, L.Brown comes in. It may even happen this week. L.Brown has been great at VFL, so I read.

Definates:

L Brown in for Wood - deserves another run and I want to see another shirt front like he did in Round 1 against the dogs.

Lockyer for Anthony - prefer Davis, Medhurst or Dick if one of those was fit and firing.

Possible:

Barham for O'Bree - much needed pace, probably deserves another go - not overly optimistic though. I agree with others on this board that the O'bree/Ball combination is not going to be a premiership winning formula.

Intensity in, at the expense of front runners. That's what was missing last week. Hopefully just an aberration and and a bit of BBF (block buster fatigue) setting in.

I am actually glad we are playing a good opponent. Sometimes crap sides drag us down and get us into bad habbits. It often takes a good side to get the most out of us
Completely agree with this statement. The best way to start playing good football again is to have no choice but to have too. The Bulldogs will come out firing and the Pies players will have to step their game (to the level it should be) or get blown out of the water.

I'm really looking forward to this game.

I dont think there will be many changes... think I read in the MM article this week re poor performance that dropping a lot of players would be a knee jerk reaction.

I am thinking 1-2

Leroy in my eyes deserves a run and he will throw some much needed weight around.

Presumably, the first part of that sentence is a question.

You have it the wrong way around. Dave's preview should be part of the Pre Match topic.

We allow it as a 'stand alone' thread for a couple of days, because of the effort he puts into it, then it's merged into the Pre Match.

If anyone has difficulty finding it, in the thread, his weekly previews are featured on the webpage: www.magpies.net/nick
Donny.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

No one writes a pre-game like DaVe86, that is the stuff of legends. A good balanced read everytime - will surely always get a stand alone moment pre-game.

I prefer that to the AFL website and most others to be honest. Not saying no-one should or could write one,,, but it wuld have to be pretty bloody good to beat that. Usually additions in the comments are the best we can all come up with I think.

Keep up the good work mate!

But, to be clear - not having a go at you Nathan92, yours might be great to - just supporting why I love to (and wait every week to) read these pre-game reports.

Not trying to shoot you down as such!

thanks Colour Blind.

Yep Donny, that's all I ask. I try to get it out by Wed...so if you give me a day or so with a bit of exposure then I'm a happy man. I usually wait until its posted to the Nicks webpage then link to that from my facebook and hotrods.

At the end of the day, i'm not going to bother writing them if they get buried on page 6 of a 20 page pre-game thread.

However Donny, if this is an issue, the thread doesn't have to be stickied. It usually gets enough responses to keep it visible for a day.

I would hope not BBHS. Especially not if Davis is still out. Medhurst is also out.

Nathan92,

Suggest you cut and paste yours under Dave's (that will give your preview more exposure and be a good contrast in thoughts). If I don't log on for a few days I can't be bothered catching up with 10 pages of the normal pre-game. But always like to read Dave's preview and add my thoughts.
