Pre Match: Pies v. Bulldogs - all comments here pls

Obviously we've got a much stronger team selected this week, though I'm bitterly disappointed that Barham didn't get a game. I think the criticisms of his kicking are way over blown - he wouldn't be rated by Collingwood's coaches as BOG or close to it week after week if he was kicking it to the opposition. The point is he often is kicking while running at full throttle. I just hope he doesn't lose heart as his pace and tenacity is just what we need in our midfield.

Yes yes yes. Why can't we have a team selection thread that stays that way till just before the game starts?
McCaffer makes the right decisions and is very efficient by hand and foot in general play. He just has this nervous, stuttering run-up when he has set shots. Its a glaring problem but not something he can't overcome. I think he is staying in because he doesn't make many mistakes under pressure.
I'm figuring they'll pick Davis and Medhurst if fit, in order to repeat the dose we gave them in round one with our small forwards. Lets just hope we don't let their backmen have 250 uncontested possessions and that our zone doesn't drop back much past our forward 50. If our small players can keep the ball in and force turnovers at our CHF we'll win again.

Pretty easy to call the starting 22 this week. Davis and Medhurst are in the starting 18, so they'll play (providing they pull up ok). Wellingham, Sidebottom and Dawes should all definitely play, so it'll be Brown and Lockyer as emergencies and a toss up between Wood and Fraser, imo.
I suppose Brown and Lockyer will be kept in the wings for Medhurst and Davis respectively, in case either or both don't make it.
Very disappointing to see JA out of the side, but probably a fair call by the selection committee.

Same here. Very concerned about this game as we are just NOT playing well. In a slump. However, whether we can not play well but still win the game will be the key question to be answered on Sunday.frankiboy wrote:Interesting bench. I guess it'll come down to who's the least injured. Not sure exactly why but I have very uneasy feeling about this game

Then Gavin Brown must be lying then eh? Also the guy has had 8 tackles which tells me he is working hard when he hasn't got the ball.Lazza wrote:Look the worst thing about our last two loses the shocking and pathetic field kicking. http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/newsfea ... fault.aspxJaxson Barham (18k, 15h, 3m, 8t): Outstanding. 16 handball receives. He has been a running machine over the last month. Playing off a wing and in the middle.

Jaxson was brilliant last week, as far as getting the ball, played predominantly across half back, would have been lucky if his disposals reached 50% efficiency. still a bit panicky when he has the ball which causes him to cough it up on regular occassions,i admire his tenacity thou

Either you listen to posters who saw his performance or you don't mate. Your call. Browny as coach would have rose coloured glasses about his players (in public anyway!)bugalugs wrote:Then Gavin Brown must be lying then eh? You'd think Medders would be in serious doubt. Anyone have any news on him? Suggest Tarks will be late change.Fire Up wrote:final team:

Hmmm, while Dawes wasn't great, though he had some credits in the bank and just did enough. Must be doing something structure wise continously wrong through out the game.
But L.Brown has been smacking the door down in VFL. What else can you ask? Hope he kicks straight.
