Dyso: I too am getting sick of guessing which Collingwood team turns up on the day: the red-hot one, or the lazy one
How true - unfortunately! This is what I don't understand! How can there be such a big gap between our worst and our best - and within a period of only a few weeks???

I have no doubts our 2010 team at their best could lead us to a GF BUT (and a BIG BUT it is!) why the hell are they so inconsistent??? When did we last dominate a season? It's so obvious that when our workrate is high we win well - the minute we slack off our opposition walks all over us! Can't we just play good quality consistent football for a season???

Geez, the Club should be paying us considering what they put us through......!!!!!!

Gutted, today we were outplayed by a very good footy side. The Dees are under-rated and they are playing on passion inspired by Jimmy Stynes. In saying that we were also fairly ordinary and again outcoached. Our goalkicking is a disgrace.

Positives were we have got 6 points from both games against the Dees when we didn't deserve any points at all. I thought Swan, Thomas and Dick had very good games. A few were off the pace, but our tackling pressure was good throughout. Lockyer finished like a veteran. Lucky.

Shows how much Didak is relied on. Some of the young kids will learn from that, unfortunately it may have cost us the chance to claim top spot as the Cats and Saints are way ahead of us and we;ve got a tough few games coming up as we have to play them both again. Oh Well, it wasn't as bad the Socceroos game.

^And thank god we didn't have to stay up all night waiting to watch it, too!

I've read a number of posts, to say the least, that have expressed dismay at the Collingwood players tackling inefficiency.

An easy solution to this would be to hire a Rugby League or Union tackling coach. If they can't teach the players how to tackle properly then no one can.

I would love to see the Pies hire Lloyd as our full time goal kicking coach and forward line assistant coach and make contact with the Melbourne Storm about using their tackling coach in a part-time role as, funnily enough, our tackling coach.

On the game - we managed a draw and got two points.

WIAN, that one 'flat' win was a convincing victory over another top 4 contender. Otherwise, I'd agree with you.

How did you see Brown's game, Swoop?

You should have said not as bad as the Socceroos performance. I tell you Germany put on a real show of class and skill that was a lot better to watch than that "game"at the G today. :(

^Whilst Brown is in the side as a forward he must perform as one.

He's now been goalless in 5 of his 6 appearances.

FFS enough already.

More to follow.

With Maxy going down, No Dids, no BJ, and Ball. We were always going to struggle.

Problem in the game was our absence of marks inside 50. All our goals, except for 1, were from roved or on the run goals.

This is why we had so many behinds. We won this game around the ground. We kicked 4.8 in 1st and 1.9 in the 3rd.

Lucky we got away with a draw.

Rest up Boys regroup and plan the 2nd half offensive.
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Dane Swan = Tony Shaw

Post by SteveH67 »

Anyone see the stark similarities between the Dane Swan and Tony Shaw games?

Swan almost singlehandley got the team across the line today.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd efforts were outstanding.

Shame can't be said for some of his teammates though.

Only blemish was a dinky round the corner type kick, that cost a turnover and subsequent goal in the last qtr.

Swan bleeds for the Pies!

Way to ruin my separate thread, whoever you are to move it here. YOU WANKER!

True, but he offers more than just goalkicking. He was the architect of a lot of that pressure in our inside 50 in the opening 10 minutes of the game, and if we'd converted a few more opportunities, it would have been all over by then.

I suspect Dawes would have been all out at sea today. Brown was far from our worst.

Given that some of you think he is the messiah [he might be] i think its fair to question what our forward line has been up to the last month or so given the great man has the portfolio. After all, its quite the rage to say its all Malthouse's fault [it might be] but please a bit of discussion rather than just suggesting I'm cheap shotting Buckley after one game [it's many]. Do I have a history of that? [no.]
When we were kicking 20 goals a game, he was the Messiah, now he's just a very naughty boy.
