Dave ... where do you find the time? World Cup, National events politically - yet you must have hunched over the keyboard on that one. Awesome as usual.

You nailed it - I was feeling wierd trying to work out why I was nervous about this game.
a) we have the wood over them on the board
b) we now have a Ruck (missing in the past) not just a Ruck ... Their Ruck!
c) Ladder position is like Real Estate ... location - location - location all that should matter

But I have been rubbing my fingers nervously here.

Cant wait to see who turns up - my Pies playing tough relentless footy, or that other mob we have seen lately.

Great write up mate. Wish we could send Fraser to Sydney for Jolly to Ruck against - then I might feel more dominant in that region.

CARN the Pies!!!
I believe:
My mighty Pies will win more than they lose,,
That supporters should do just that ... support,,
My stomach is infact a Pie warmer: just got to work out how to get them back out!

HS reporting that Fraser will get dropped and Jolly will ruck alone.

I'm guessing Brown will be the pinch-hit ruck/3rd tall defender/forward with Dawes coming in after his 5 goals before the break.

Good read again Dave.

Couple of comments:

1). Saindilands is the competition's form ruck buy a country mile. But Mummy has been good (aparently).

2). I think Reid may be used in the Maxwell role playing off White. With Harry on Goodes and Presti on Bradshaw.

3). If its wet, we need to reflect this in selection. Must not go to tall up forward and must go for stronger bodies and hard at it players.

Dawes may not get the gig due to these circumstances.

yer agreed that if its wet, Dawes should not come in. I'd prefer Leigh Brown's bang crashing style of play than Dawes lead up stuff.

Reid will go to White....but there will be times he'll have to stand...especially if Bradshaw does not play.

If Bradshaw is in, Presti goes to him, Reid to White and Harry to Goodes.

Then who would be then 2nd Tall in the Forward line Medders?

Leigh Brown will spend most time up forward.

^ in the wet, Leigh's bullocking work would be more valuable. Plus looks like both Fraser and Wood will miss (See HS site). Leigh will be 2nd ruck.

Dawes lead up marking and one on one marking is his strength. Wouldn't think these skills will be advantagous in a "big wet". Come September on nice clean days, Dawes would be the go. And if it looked like a clean day this week I'd have Dawes in too. Dawes in the ruck? Hmmm. Will he be better than Leigh?

But in the end we have to drop a tall if wet. Fraser will go out and a small in.

Fraser out - Didak in
Jaxon out - Johno in
Maxwell out - Ball in

I previously said Medders should be out, but 3 changes is enough. and the wet should suit his body type.

agreed. Normally I would have Dawes over Brown...but in the wet he is more bang crash and atleast can backup ruck to Jolly. He would only have to come up against Myke Pyke who hasn't played the game for long.

Then we can bring in an extra midfielder which will be good in the wet.

In: Ball, Didak, Johnson, Goldsack
Out, Maxwell, Fraser, Macaffer, Barham

Well with the Wet you could Defintaly make the Case it would make it Hard for Dawes and Goldsack has played well vs the Swans though it was against Micky O

^ your right there DTM. Goldsack has been good against Mick O, who is now retired. Not sure 1 good game in VFL is enough after injuries to get back in the seniors for Goldy. I'd like to see a couple in a row.

I think with L.Brown in the side we have the extra big defender if required + 2nd ruck option + extra tall forward. Mr Fix It...... Well.... Fix it to his ability. No need for extra defender with Maxwell out IMO
