I didn't say there was no support, just surprisingly little. Monarchists tend to be very loyal to the concept, but the republican movement has too many apathetic people who, while they don't support the Monarchy, don't have strong enough feelings to push for change. On top of that, like you said you have a schism within the movement on what kind of republic model to choose.

So without a real push and only a fringe of rabid anti monarchists (Which is called treason might I add  ) I can't see change coming any time soon.

Spot on, Wokko. Most rational republicans recognise that the change is unimportant in the overall scheme of things. Of course, it's something that should be done, but there is no particular hurry and only a fairly small benefit to be gained. There are about 5309 more urgent and more important things to attend to first. Rational monarchists, on the other hand, are a fairly rare breed. They certainly do exist, and make some persuasive arguments, but are outnumbered by the loud-voiced weirdo 19-Century types.

Guilty as charged, your honour.

Honestly, I'm a bit like Tannin. I don't care 99% of the time, and then I read an article about Tony Abbott accidentally breaching some bullshit royal etiquette and wonder "why the hell are we still associated with these people?".

So.

What is wrong with this video?

IMO there's a very good message and some not so good ones. Others thoughts?

Massive puke.

Firstly, it's a bullshit message. Have the makers of this ad ever been to a childcare centre? Children hit each other all the time. Boys hit girls, girls hit boys, boys hit boys and girls hit girls. At some stage, hopefully by the time they reach primary school, they learn that it's wrong to hit. Not that it's wrong to hit girls, but that it's wrong to hit anyone. Only in a deeply patriarchal society (like Italy, apparently) would "hitting girls/women" be specifically taboo. So, the message this ad sends is pretty screwed up.

Secondly, did I already say "massive puke"?

This kids are a bit older than child care level!

But I concur, much better to just try and hunt down the ugly stuff in life, who wants to see the good stuff?

I like these boys. I like all their answers.

And I like the clip.

As you can tell by its appearance on my Facebook page!

I actually agreed with a lot of the stuff David just posted about how it actually objectified the girl.

She was introduced, then just stood there while the boys were asked what they liked about her and invited to 'caress" her. She was literally treated as an object.

I wonder how different the video may have been if the girl was a short fat dumpy thing with freckles and glasses rather than a tall thin attractive girl.

That's a fair point, the dumpy bit, the rest doesn't matter, it was about the boys reaction.

Little kids off their tits on something in a public place and the Police rightfully stepping in.

Compare that to big kids off their tits on something in a public place and the Police stepping in.
