Nick's Collingwood Bulletin Board

is it just me or has Dale shown little signs of respect towards collingwood since his departure. Haven't heard him say many if any positive things about the club since leaving... have I missed something or has he been happy to write off the club as a big part of his life and career to date. No mention of mates for life, support from the fans, the flag or ever coming back one day to celebrate with old teammates etc.

maybe he's playing the professional line and getting blues fans onside, but I'm pretty surprised by it all. Either Bucks & Eddie royalty p*ssed him off in the past two years, or he simply doesn't give a or as I say, I have missed a lot. He also must know that he was well paid by us for a long time, whilst being inconsistent and never fully delivering on his potential. So again as a seemingly honest guy, he should know this and you'd think show a bit of humility along with avoiding burning bridges....

^In his defence, he hasn't said anything negative or disrespectful towards the club that I can think of...

He was our best player over the course of two grand finals that happened to deliver the only premiership we have won in 23 years!!! I'm not sure anyone can deliever on potential any better than that.

the impact of his injury and fall from grace has been massively undervalued by supporters as we have slipped from best in class to eighth in three short years.

I think he has handled himself for the most part with class. I still dont get the "dont throw your jumper out yet" moment (not his finest in retrospect based on available facts) and i would love to know the precise sequence of events that preceded his exit.

He's done the pretty standard spiel. I'm not sure what else people would have expected him to say:

He's done it well. This stands of course in deep contrast with the manner in which his new Coach departed, don't you think David?

To me it's pretty clear that the deciding factor in Thomas leaving wasn't money it was Malthouse.

Ask yourself this.

If Malthouse had of stayed in the media and not returned to coaching would Thomas have left for another club?

Would any other club not coached by Malthouse been prepared to offer the sum of money the scum put on the table?

For me the answer is no in both instances.

The loyalty of Thomas has always been with Malthouse first, Collingwood a distant second IMO.

The crystal ball tells me he will be hampered with injury for the rest of his career, which will likely span another four seasons. I'll tip he plays 38 games for Carlton in that time before announcing his retirement

Apparently he's recovered from his recent bout of food poisoning and is ready to resume full training. He'll be focussing on runs.
