I'm with a local company down my way who has it's own wireless network.

Just ran a Telstra speed test and was getting around 20Mbps.

That'll do me.

NBN Australia been Shocking last 2 days with Optus as can't get faster then 15KBPS for Downloads.

Got faster when we had Dial Up.

Do any of you skype or hangout? When has it worked well for you and when has it not? [e.g. have you found it correlated with the down/upload speeds?]

Only Skype when overseas, and not much, no issues

I just learnt there's also a rival called Zoom. As far as I can see, the advertised minimum and recommended bandwidth is modest for all of them [e.g. for 1:1 video calling: 600kbps (up/down) for HQ video and 1.2 Mbps (up/down) for HD video], so when there's trouble perhaps that's not the issue...

I'm up at Toc at the moment, using my wifi only tablet connected to Telstra Air, which is free WIFI for Telstra broadband customers. Pretty shit speed <1mbs but enough for browsing. Works better when there's no mexican terrorists up here.

well, I'm hanging out for nbn after having to cope with adsl for the past couple of months. Not sure how a 30 odd year old suburb 15 minutes from the cbd missed out on cable? :?
