That was a lesson Dennis Pagan taught Buckley many years ago when Buckley played on Wayne Schwass and Schwass took him to the goal square and exposed him as a deep defender.
And the lesson Buckley taught Pagan many years ago when he played on Wayne Carey and exposed him as a centre-half fraudward?

Blech! That's right! Was it a sponsorship with the then mobile phone company? Putrid they were - the prototype GWS oompa-loompa strips!

Gg, do you realise 19 of our players topped 75% DE, with 7 over 80%
Yes,that's 75% DE but not 75% KE.
9/10 handballs stick that's why our DE is so high, kicking is woeful
Our use by hand has been way worse than by foot this year.

8 out of our top 10 players disp by foot had eff over 75%
The lowest amount of kicks ( 10th place) was Pendles with 12 out of 30.
Smith kicked it 24 times out of 32 with tot eff of 78%
Sidey 21 out of 32 with tot eff of 78%

Midfield unit dictated the game.

Treloar's clearance break away running is the best in the comp.

The Crisp move to half back has been great.

Grundy competed but struggled. Luckily he was only up against Griffen and not Sandilands.

Broomhead played his best game for the club. Might sound silly because it didn't include the flashy, silky stuff but he was solid for 4 quarters, not 2 and a half.

Goldsack will be a life member of this club and will be fondly remember in many years to come because of games like this. Fingers crossed the shoulders ok, he's in career form.

Darcy Moore has put together a month of really solid footy. He comfortably beat Hamling yesterday. His confidence is rising and its great to see.

THE BACKLINE

The difference between Brown/Frost and Lynden Dunn is his disposal out of the defensive 50. Kick outs have been exceptional too.

Maynard again had his best game for the club.

Smith is a quiet achiever that plays his role soundly. Great game.

Pleased to see Shaz get through another game of footy. Nice game.

Jeremy Howe just has to be AA. Complete, well rounded game now.

One thing that surprised me about Treloar's game yesterday was the ferocity.
His talent is obvious but I'd never really thought of him as a hard nut.
Yesterday, he just seemed to want the ball more than anyone else.

Great post, I agree with each of the points that you make. Much better than some of the posters on here nit picking on our disposal efficiency. I was at the game yesterday and I thought we moved the ball very well. Missed the odd one which is always going to happen. Big game in a hostile away stadium we were great.
People forget that our last premiership was only 2010 and rebuilds take some time. 2018 we play finals again.

One of the rare times I disagree with you RudeBoy.

Crocker didn't set the world on fire but he needs to stay in, I am not a fan of giving a "newbie" one game them dropping them. Give him 3-4. He has shown signs he is capable at the level. Impatience with players can cost us.

Agree with you and Ad4eva.

Not sure why all the angst with our disposal efficiency, whether by hand or foot. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that we took 150 marks. ( dockers took 75 ) That's big numbers and you don't reach that without using the ball reasonably well.
I just think we find it easier to remember the bad lateral kicks and then generalise the disposal performance as a bad one.

You might be right k5. Normally I would agree that the kid needs a few games to prove himself and adjust to the faster pace of AFL footy, however, in this instance we are fighting desperately to keep our finals chance alive, and simply can't can't afford to lose games. We need to pick the best team possible to win, regardless of opportunities it provides for players. Right now I don't see Crocker in our best 22 for this week.

Great win by the boys bit we have paid a hih price for the win with ytje injuries to Elliott, Wells and Goldie. All of these individual;s have been major contributors to our recent success. Other players will replace them next week but they are big footy boots to fill. Lets hope that others collectively step up and maintain our ascendancy.

Th game against Melbourne next Monday will say a great deal about how the remainder of this season will evolve.

Broomhead seems way out of his depth, particularly when in tight and his disposal is poor.
You guys are way too tough on Broomhead. He did some very good things in tight and his disposal is generally excellent. Definitely deserves to retain his spot.
