My mum actually got quite upset over it. She's in pretty much constant pain due to arthritis in hips and knees and as someone who was always physically active, she felt mocked. Shhe said to me "I didn't ask to be like this and they're just mocking me and people like me"

After she finished her rant I gently tried to explain the context behind it, which settled her down a bit but she was still pissed off.

Good thing about being old is that everyone (well, most of us, that is) gets to experience it for themselves one day. May as well laugh about it while we still can!

The idiocy of the left wanting to close down fossil fuel power plants without having a definitive plan for an alternative.

With electricity usage only increasing, it's comical that we are being dictated by the woke green dickhead brigade.

I also find the push to lithium battery electric vehicles funny when the world doesn't have enough lithium reserves to replace the internal combustion engine.

We are going to have a shit and unreliable electricity supply that's more expensive.

What'll be really funny is rolling blackouts that leave you unable to charge your car.

To my mind, there are roughly two different kinds of people: those who recognise the urgency of the climate crisis and are trying to find solutions to it, however imperfectly they themselves spend their lives; and those who don’t believe that there’s a problem and instead spend their time finding any opportunity possible to laugh at the first group. I think history will adequately demonstrate who the real dickheads were.

Electric cars may well have their own significant environmental issues that may or may not be resolved through alternative means. The question is, what’s your solution? Or do we just keep burning fossil fuels until we’re underwater?

^ the race had been won David. The dickheads are evident. They are the ones forcing shifts to electricity (no more natural gas appliances) and eventual phase out of oil / coal etc. But are doing so on a hope that renewables will be the answer.

It may well be that the only viable outcome is to eliminate cars altogether. A better electric car might be a medium-term compromise solution, but if you’re counting on it failing then I guess be careful what you wish for.

How, pray tell, do you propose we could eliminate cars?
