What a first wicket! King Kohli!

Gotta push hard now and get a big first-innings lead. In case of the usual Oz collapse in the 2nd innings.

Good that FTB Smith finally hung on to one. A real sitter that not even FTB could drop.

FTB dropped 3 catches in the 1st Test. (And remember that's just one innings!!) He's clearly not up to fielding on the subcontinent.

Now, Pete's catch earlier... That was a catch! He needed 7 touches of the ball to complete it. Pinball Pete.

And the other wickets didn't need a catcher: 4 LBWs 1 bowled... And counting...

Push, push, Oz! Can't afford to let the tail get away this time.

Grrr.... Patel is now 20 not out, with two 4s and a 6.

Not good.

Update: Make that 28 not out, with four 4s and a 6. All his boundaries have come in the last four overs (Cummins x2, Kuhnemann x2).

..............................

And that's Tea.
India 7/179. India trail by 84 runs.
Kohli 44.
Lyon 5/41 (20), Murphy 1/37 (13), Kuhnemann 1/64 (20).

Earlier today, Pujara joined FTB Smith, Carey and Murphy on the duck list.

What's 'not good' about it ?

Ashwin has 5 Test tons and Axar hit 80 odd, last Test.

Not good for Oz. Doesn't mean "unexpected".

Ashwin's 1st-innings wickets were not good either. Also not unexpected.

.................

Also not good: Oz burnt 3 DRS reviews in the first hour.

So none left for the rest of the innings, right? :?:

Meanwhile, Murphy and Lyon are bowling after tea.
India are nearing their 200.

Oz have only 70 runs in hand now. I fear the 2nd-innings collapse...

Axar Patel reaches 50. But only after FTB Smith dropped yet another catch.

India 7/230.
Dangerous partnership nearing 100 now.

'Matthew Hayden called it a partnership that has changed the game and I agree with him.'

(The Age)

Will FTB Smith's butter fingers cost Oz the match and series?

'Lyon looks to the sky in disgust.

“He should have caught that,” Mark Waugh said on commentary.

“You would be disappointed in that if you are Steve Smith.”'

(The Age)

Renshaw also missed a "sharp chance" to get Ashwin, also off Lyon's bowling.

----------------------------------------------

Head has now bowled 2 overs for 10 runs.

'“From what we understand this pitch has been used three times already this year and there’s already substantial cracking in the areas where most of the game is going to be played,” Dodemaide said.

“That’s the reason for going for the three spin, the fifth bowler is important too.”'
