Typical Sam Mitchell, not playing finals so let’s be dirty dogs and hurt the other team. So many instances a Hawk went knee first when jumping into a player already tackled. Glad Nick got a free, but they’d been roughing him up all day. Should have got a 50 for being crunched after marking too.

And gee whiz, a week after Curnow got half a dozen frees for an arm around the waist (that he initiated), today’s umps forgot all about the rule for us.

JDG been average in the midfield recently....can't help but think he should be our X Factor in the forward line....remember how good he was in 2018 and 2019...those 3 amazing goals in the granny in 2018.

Which just adds to our lack of midfield guns. We need another genuine midfielder so JDG can go back to where he belongs in the forward line.

Maybe he was talking about our Psychologist needing to spend time counselling some players and working out reasons for their performance decline.

I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️

Fly said Murphy's injury looks like ankle syndesmosis (low grade).

Here is an article from 2022 about AFL injuries and syndesmosis.

What happens when you bust your syndesmosis?

Ultimately we will not know the answer until September. I think we will win next week and next...final week who knows ....or indeed cares
He looked a little rattled - but you would expect that after a loss like today

However he also remains optimistic

I have watched almost all of his pressers and he rarely gives much away ..

I should note I was referring to the transition from long time coaches with the Mitchell comment in the first line
"You hate a mean man, a grasping man, a man who wants everything and gives nothing. That’s Collingwood. They are a law unto themselves"

STRINGENT OBSERVATIONS:

I am not a reactionary fan and like to base my opinions on facts and figures. So here goes:

* That was an abomination with a mid-field that was obliterated by Hawks young bucks in a manner I've never seen before
* Mihocek is cooked. Time to dump. 2 goals in 6 games and shite field kicking
* Lipinski is bereft of anything
* Maynard back to 2016 brain farts
* Mitchell: rest him or play him four quarters
* Adams: can he stop falling over?
* Cameron obliterated today
* James Sicily: any chance we could tag a threat??? They DID
* Too much left to a 35 year old Pendles
* Johnson is an classic downhill skiing powder puff (trade)
* Cox wouldn't have made any difference
* Hawks played keepings off, they mastered it

And the most controversial of all. Jordan Degoey despite two goals was absolutely thrashed by Day and Newcombe and should hang his head in shame.

I do think we need to ask if Checkers and McStay can play in the same forward line

Pendles, sidey, Mitchell, adams, lipinski

Too old and slow, murdered by the third bottom team, with hardly a player anyone has ever heard of.

Can only play 3 of the above- to be honest the midfield has looked poor for many weeks now - north, west coast both had our measure for a large part of those games

Putting a positive spin on the result:

The Hawks have beaten us in 1977, 1980, 1981, 1990, 2002, 2003, 2010 and 2018. In all those years, we made the Grand Final.

Worth remembering before we completely write ourselves off.
