Just found out that Constable Josh Prestney was a Collingwood member for 22 years.

I think that is addressing the problem, but perhaps that’s a discussion for another thread. What'sinaname wrote:Exactly. Rather than focus on the problem, we give them injecting rooms and want to decriminalise marijuana!!think positive wrote:Nailed it ‘WE’ have a problem, they are just poor old drug users that need our sympathy.
Get tough on them. They don’t need long sentences, just real ones, no tv, no mattress, break a few rocks a day, make a number plate, no smokes, no cokeof any kind, actually make em drink through a wired shut jaw. Harsh? They will live.
4 cops won’t

i thought so too, but obviously its not fixing the problem, no accountability, they just dont care. You help them, but not only do they take and run, they kill innocent people.David wrote:I think that is addressing the problem, but perhaps that’s a discussion for another thread. What'sinaname wrote:Exactly. ^ You shouldn’t generalise like that. Some people are receptive to help, some aren’t. It’s the same case for mental health services and drug rehab. But that’s not a reason to give up on those services; rather, every step forward and success story is worth celebrating, and unfortunately you’re never going to stop everyone falling through the cracks.

The thing with Ice, apart from being bloody hard to quit, if you do succeed you can still have long term brain chemistry impacts.
Don't blame the addicts for being addicted, although do hold them accountable for their actions while using, blame the manufacturers and distributors

how about when they take 4 cops down the crack (sic) with them?David wrote:^ You shouldn’t generalise like that. Some people are receptive to help, some aren’t. celebrate the success stories? the ones who get their heads right and get normal again? well done pat on the back, funny people dont like participation trophies, but you want to celebrate this? reminds me of when my youngest was in about grade 3, and something happened between a feral kid whos parents clearly didnt give a shit about him, he had so many anger problems, but this day he took it out on one of juniors friends, and when discussing the result, the mum of the girl who defended herself asked why her kid was in trouble and the naughty kid not so much .she was told "because hes special". She replied "special? and my kids not special?" i cant remember the whole rant but i really had to stop myself from applauding. Here, here's a cookie for not jumping in a car high and killing people, go you!
Instead, give em a pat on the back, and say welcome back to normal average life. Get busy son. Its not always easy for any of us.
its not good enough.
dont blame the addicts for being addicts Stui? then whos fault is it? they took the first sniff or what ever knowing the risks. far too many innocent people are dying because of them. Is it sad if they take themselves out? its always sad when someone dies, someone is left behind heartbroken. But they know the risks, everyone knows the risks. Personal responsibility doesnt come from 5 min in the naughty corner. its time to get tough.
Im aware how common and how easy it is to be thinking "it could have been my child, brother, sister, father, friend who took the risk". i get that. it could have been my nephew in the past.
but im sitting here thinking thank damn God it wasnt my sister run down by a drugged up truckie, not my sister begging for help whilst the other drugged up prick worried about his damn car.

Jo, where is any value in blaming people for using Ice? That's like blaming everyone who drinks for drink drivers killing people. Blame the behaviour and allow no excuses for whatever substance they had in their system
Whatever malfunction Dick Pusey has, he can't blame Ice for his behaviour.
The truck driver will be interesting. Long haul truckies were the original meth users, before it was fashionable, back before H&S, log books and mandatory rest breaks, using what they termed "Yippee Beans" to drive from Brisbane to Melbourne in the shortest time possible. Kids generally get unto Ice because it's cheap and the scum dealers target areas to push it, mature age adults generally get into it as a stimulant when they're burning the candle at both ends

jesus was wrong. The good kid now feels less important. I’m not saying he should feel more important, but he sure as hell should not feel less. He can have the robe back, but he has to earn it first, and just walking in the door gets him a coat, but not a robe.
We give our nephew work where we can, but we do the same for his brother. No less.
When do we stop giving people excuses for their bad behaviour and hold them accountable

Yes, well like many of his other fine numbers, Jesus didn't do the definitive version. Here it is:

And here's the 1968 cover that announced a new direction for the Stones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=humDgJ-SmHI
The parable is about forgiveness and acceptance. A little bit more around here would go a long way. A little less Old Testament justice would be a fine thing.

quoting the Rolling Stones in defence of drug use...thats a Saul Goodman defence right there!
