"Free up a few dollars for 4 weeks". Think you should read 2017-2022 Player CBA. If you could not save $700k across some players on our list you are not a good manager. The powers that be gave Ned Guy a free hand and we should honour those deals done in good faith and work within the perimeters. If we thought Grundy was a good deal then what has changed? Has he become a hack. i don't think so. If Grundy wants out o/k but then it is him breaking the contract ie null & void. Go Pies

You posted about delisting a number of players after completing the first year of a two year contract. Firstly, you can’t do that unless a club or player can provide exceptional circumstances. Later picks sign on for a about $80,000 a year but the point is, by delisting them ( which you can’t do anyway after 12 months ) that contract is automatically replaced by the new draftees you bring in anyway. If you could delist Murley, Harrison and Draper, you would “ save “ about $250,000 until of course they have to be replaced a month later at the next draft with another $250,000 worth of later picks. As I said, if you want to go trimming the cap, you should focus on players who are replaceable and who are in their second or third more lucrative contracts. You will save a lot more money by delisting the Brown brothers than three late draft picks after a year in the system and that’s exactly what the club has done.

The previous management didn't think it was a good deal but were overruled from above.

No one involved in that deal is still at the club.

Yes has become a complete dud in the 3 years since signing it and if someone is willing to take him off our hands now we'd be mad not to do it. If he actually plays next season we wouldn't be able to give him away.

If we're able to slide 16 to 13 plus gain 27 for Grundy then it's suddenly more palatable.

Missing out on Bontempelli by two spots and Bolton by one shows you should never be blase about the ability to improve your draft hand by a small margin and especially so in the first couple of rounds.

Jackson gone to Freo. If Dees need a ruckman let them have Darcy Cameron and keep Grundy. Go Pies

I honestly think this is the best we can hope for but then can we get pick 13 and henry for pick 7 from the cats?

13 and 27 for Grundy with 16 heading to the Dees makes sense.

That doesn’t, why would we give them a high first round pick on top of Grundy??? They get Grundy and that’s it, no way would I give them anything else unless they’re willing to pay all of his salary

Because its an overall improvement on just pick #27...

In: #13, #27 = 1915 points combined,
Out: Grundy, #16 (1067 points)

Values Grundy at about 848 points - which is about #22 (which is a better return than just #27 by itself)

We move up 3 spots in the draft, add a second rounder to this year, and remove most of his salary in our cap.

Lucky we dont have you running our list... :D

The truth is we probably end up with your trade suggestion anyway (swap for #27). Melbourne have us by the balls. Speculation is that it would be hard for Grundy to stay, so we have no power really. So even though that trade is better for us, why would they offer it to us when they are the only buyer and we are a desperate seller??

As above i reckon this is the best we can do BUT can we then turn 13 and Henry into 7 and a sweetner?

yep that would be the ideal scenario, so doubt it will happen
