Assuming Henry goes, would we skip Frampton and Fioreni and take Nick Haynes, his salary and spread it and a round 1 draft pick - GWS have plenty. Would sure up our defense for next 5 years with Moore.

What we save in the 3 players could pay for Haynes and we get a 1st round pick on a low salary?

We would go to the draft with 3 picks inside 27 (grundy), McStay, Hill, Haynes.

What I love about Haynes is his attack on the football. However he’s more of a half back, like Howe, than a key tall defender, so I’d be still keen to recruit Frampton. I think Whitfield would be a better acquisition for us than Haynes, if GWS is serious about letting him go.

He turns 31 next season. We will struggle to spread that over the next 5 years. No thanks.

There might be trades “ done “ ( more likely pick swaps ) but they won’t be announced until Monday.

Some of the GWS players are very appealing, but I believe the contracts that come with them are the issue.

*Haynes (turns 31 in May). Contracted until the end of 2024.
*Whitfield (turns 29 in July). Contracted until the end of 2027.
*Greene (turns 30 in September) Contracted until the end of 2026.

I'm wondering if these guys will be available only if Hopper is not traded to Richmond. And if a trade with Richmond can't be completed, can Collingwood still trade for him? What's their asking price?

*Hopper (turns 26 in February) Contracted until the end of 2023.

He was well liked amongst the playing group and still has lots of friends here. Would be an uplifting move I reckon.
I'd be for it.

Still has a lot of good rapport with our current players.

He could walk straight into the side Round 1.
Has had a wretched run with injuries at Hawthorn.
No. We already know his limitations. I’d prefer to roll the dice on a kid.

Sam Weideman has nominated Essendon and a trade is expected on Monday.

That kind of sucks.

Exactly. If his name was Sam Jamieson, no one would even mention him.

I have a sentimental attachment to the name Weideman. I’d welcome him at Collingwood.

On another note, former Cat (James Parsons) is nominating for the draft.
He is 25 years old- 189cms and 82kgs midfielder/forward.
Delisted by the Cats at the end of 2020.
Certainly worth a late pick...
Both list cloggers. Phillips disposal was always poor, hence why we traded him.
No thank you.

No longer an important factor of recruiting. History shows that getting the best available talent is the way to go.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️
