Club says contract negotiations are on hold till the end of the year. Whats that tell us, his not going to sign the greedy bastard. His lucky to be worth 400k with the crap he's been serving up. F--k him off to the VFL. Sign up the players that want to stay. You'll be sorry one day you money hungry bastard, just ask Peter Moore.

Gablett played his heart out for Geelong until the last second, a weak daddy's boy like Trav won't be able to do it.frankiboy wrote:Whether he stays or not I believe our season is now screwed. I'll be curious to see his demeanor out on the field this week, it should tell us plenty. It's got Ablett Geelong 2010 written all over it but not sure Trav can poker face half as well as Gary.

Do you think Nick would say he is gone before the Club Offically announces it?nulla wrote:Maxwell said this morning that Travis is under heaps of scrutiny from the media and that he is working his arse off trying to regain form.Dave The Man wrote:Well the Club has Pretty Much done ThatJohn Wren wrote:i will reserve judgement until it is confirmed as fact by the club. it really makes no material difference to my life whether he stays or go.
I think this is a wise move by the club and shut the media up. Close ranks.
If Travis is named to play this week I see no reason to think he is no longer a chance to stay at the club.

The Club has taken a long overdue stand against this insidious Cloke clan. They have offered him a fantastic deal, and his Damir dominating old man has given him shocking advice, based on pure GREED. Oneday, Travis, as I said elsewhere, you will learn money is not everything, it cannot buy you happiness and Collingwood immortality. You had it all Trav, and youve pissed it all away, thanks to Daddy dearest. You will live to regret this avarice and greed, and bad faith and advice from a very poor manager.

Horrible news, just the worst news we could have had regarding Trav. Geeeezl, how did it come to this, what the f**k is going on? He is definately going at seasons end, that is for sure now. Holding off negotiations until the end of the year cannot possibly improve the terms of his contract, expecially if we sign up other players in the meantime.
Neither the Cloke camp or the Club has the balls to just come out and say it right now.
100% pure greed is a very rare reason to leave a football club these days, a mercenary image is not one any sportsman should have (American sports aside), it is not the Australian way (Ward, Scully & Ablett aside).
Maybe this is for the best, we were starting to get too predictable with Cloke up forward anyway. Defences were starting to work off him too much and our goal scoring power has been drying up lately by going to him all the time.
Move on Trav, the Club always comes first. Side by Side we stick together, somewhere along the line you forgot about that.

He'll certainly play, I've got no doubt. It's how he plays which I'm interested in. Now's the time to throw himself at absolutely everything if he's going to do any convincing. Things might not work for him but if he looks interested I'll be happy.nulla wrote:Agree... Close ranks.Doc63 wrote:I'm very proud of my club today. Should have done it weeks ago.
I now hope we sign up all of our required players coming out of contract, for what they are worth.
Then, at the end of the season, we can say to Trav & Damir; Here's what is left. On the table is a pen and a cardboard box. Pick one.
This has been our big weakness for many years now.
Once upon a time you could not even get a statement from us.
If Travis plays this week I like our chances he will stay

That's pretty much what I was getting at. Yablett was still getting BOGS most weeks.Beast wrote:Gablett played his heart out for Geelong until the last second, a weak daddy's boy like Trav won't be able to do it.frankiboy wrote:Whether he stays or not I believe our season is now screwed. I have not read through each post so not sure if this was noted, in the OP's statement he mentioned the following
"How u would say Paul connors knows this, well he just signed up Reid and was told that they have the money Reid wants now.. And that they will be hunting for players"
Reid has been signed oh ye
I understand so has beems.
keep on signing and draft accordingly and we could possible do a Geelong 2011.
Now wouldnt that be nice.

Signing Reid, and hopefully Harry and wellingham will lock out Cloke from any further movement on his contract by the club.
On afl360 Robbo said his manager wanted the deal done, and implied that David is the problem. So given the above he has really stuffed the negotiation.
not sure whether many players leaving discussion to the end of the year actually end up staying at the club - does anyone have any examples?
