Even though i am only 15 ive been caught up in this emotional time.
It is very sad that bobby has passed away, and it is a huge loss for the Collingwood Football Club, and the general football population.
Hopefully the pies can be enspired by bobby and bring home the preimership for the Mighty Pies

Bobby Rose you will never be forgotten.
:( :( :(

Thanks, DW, and welcome to Nick's.

I, for one, appreciate when members post about an article from the Melbourne papers. Allows me to look it up and enjoy.

Memories of reading The Sun, as a kid when I lived in Victoria, are fond ones.

Before TV (well before we had one) and the net, I would wait patiently for Dad and then my older brothers to finish reading and then take The Sun to my room and devour the footy section (well not literally, we weren't THAT poor  ).

Friday's Sun had analyses of the teams, in the days when players played where they were selected.

Saturday's had previews of all the games and Lou 'kiss of death' Richards' selections.

Monday's was best of all - there were no Sunday papers then or Sunday footy for that matter - especially when the Pies won. And that was often, under Phonse Kyne and then Bobby Rose. Thanks again.

seeing as i'm all choked up at the moment and feeling quite emotional i think that a renewed discussion/dedication of this greatest of men on and off the field is valid.
R.I.P Bob. we will never forget.never

p.s damn the AFL,damn them to hell.how bob rose could not get a mention in the afl team of the century is the greatest injustice ever.i suppose it is a wrong that can never be corrected but damn them to hell anyway.

That was a great half an hour.

If you missed it you can catch up on it all at http://www.abc.net.au/dynasties/

Did it not make you proud to be Collingwood?

Some of the footage was just fantastic - and the photo of Robert kicking that ball was just beautiful.

Again, read the book. It will bring your appreciation for life to a new level and is totally uplifting.

It renewed my faith... I must admit I was begining to lose faith in the Magpies ability to win the flag. However...It reminded me of just how special everyone who is wearing the Black and white on the field and in the crowd is. We are a family that will never die, with a bloodline destined to shine forever as one in glory.

Brisbane can win the flag and crush all our hearts as many times as they want...We are the Magpies and we have the one thing Brisbane and every other team will never have, rich and proud tradition!
