I'd be happy for the Storm to teach our players how to kick!OEP wrote:I've read a number of posts, to say the least, that have expressed dismay at the Collingwood players tackling inefficiency.
An easy solution to this would be to hire a Rugby League or Union tackling coach. If they can't teach the players how to tackle properly then no one can.
I would love to see the Pies hire Lloyd as our full time goal kicking coach and forward line assistant coach and make contact with the Melbourne Storm about using their tackling coach in a part-time role as, funnily enough, our tackling coach.
On the game - we managed a draw and got two points.

I don't know why people pick on Leroy so much - yes, he didn't kick a goal but he was the one whose tackle stopped the Melbourne bloke (can't remember his name) in the dying minutes and he does take it up to players and do his bit. I don't know why Dawes wasn't played but I would have played both. As for Jolly, he did more than Fraser today, which isn't saying much. I'd definitely drop Fraser for Wood, and bring in Goldsack if Maxwell isn't right after the break. Leon needs another spot in the 2's as well.Doc63 wrote:We had 10 more scoring shots. The forward line was a disgrace (apart from Dick), after a promising start.
I thought the backline stood up prett well, all things considered. And the midfield, other than Jolly & Fraser, were OK. Thought Swan & Pendles were very good.
Time for Leroy to go. I would rather be pumping games into Dawes. Geelong will win the flag by a mile anyway, so we may as well play these blokes, like Dawes JA & Wood (yes Wood - I'd rather him than Fraser now).
Because he's not the future. What we've seen is so far is the best he'll ever be. He wont take us to where we want to be.mel_kay39 wrote:I don't know why people pick on Leroy so much - yes, he didn't kick a goal but he was the one whose tackle stopped the Melbourne bloke (can't remember his name) in the dying minutes and he does take it up to players and do his bit. We've needed to change our fitness staff for a long time, I was thinking this a few years ago. We still see the same results. Why do so many fall in a heap at the same time every year? Or have a patch of brilliance, then patches of rubbish....year after year, after year, after year, after year, after year, after year?jack_spain wrote:They are twits for every team. I noticed at some critical times the Melbourne fitness staff had Jamar off as well. The most moronic thing of all is when a player kicks a goal and runs straight off. Whatever happened to momentum? In basketball you keep the hot players on.Colour Blind wrote:I agree .. both times. What'sinaname wrote:No more excuses
and no more altitude training in Arizona. I have an idea.
Save the cost of going to Arizona and pass that on with reduced membership prices for us.
Then, have the players pick up a football and practice kicking for goal, and kicking to a leading forward.
Kicking for goal, basic skills - tackles that hold. This is stuff you don't need to spend $$$ on .... the modern game with guru's and fitness scientists to match every player on the pitch (the same twits who had both Pedders and Jolly off for the most vital 2.5 minutes of the game I moght add) - yet all we need is to stay back after school and kick a few hundred balls every day for a month.
Time to send ALL these fitness hacks packing back to the Olympics where they belong. I want footballers (like our living legend Dane Swan), not players who can run like the wind but can't kick to save their life (Action Jaxson).
F*** off fitness staff. Geelong turned their fortunes around when Bomber Thompson decided to sack his entire fitness crew at the start of 2006. If these idiots had their way Geelong wouldn't have picked up Jpod. They've have deemed him too old and incapable of good Beep test scores.
I hate fitness gurus. This is football not athletics!
What gives you the right to be reasonable & balanced in your reaction to the game today? What, no blaming Malthouse, Eddie, Bucks, Fraser, Leon, McCaffer? Coor blimey!pietillidie wrote:Geez, we can't carry that many passengers over the course of a season, that's for sure. Great to see Brad Dick back. A bit of class and passion goes a long way. Still a very unsettled side. Lucky to share the points and limp to the break.

Thank the god of your choice for Toovey!!
We played poorly in the main & eked out a draw. They played well & got a draw. No Maxwell after less than 10 min into the second quarter. We were running up & down on the spot for a fair bit of the last qtr.
Great pressure goal by Tarkyn who seemd to be well off his best today. What has happended to Wellingham since returning from injury?
Fraser in the crunch was just not concentrating when it counted - that is poor for a big man. Jamar was terrific again.
Dick is a great finisher for us. With & when Leon, Medders, Didak & Dick are fit & firing we can be very dangerous. We need the break badly to regroup because it has been a torrid first half of the season & many of our players need the rest.
Kicking so many behinds today really gives new meaning to traditional football.
Swanny, Pendles & Daisy - very good in the main today. Toovey displayed good judgement. Harry was tremendous but we really missed Maxwell in the line up, Johnston's run & penetration & Balls in & under & Didak's skill.
Could have been worse though - we could have lost.
Just took my dog for a walk: Looked up & guess what - the sky hadn't fallen in.
Just take a few deep breaths using your diaphragm (yes I'm sure there's a purile line there somewhere) in through the nose, hold it then exhale out through the mouth - ahh, that feels better.
