We smashed 'em 50-35 in clearances. Though, no doubt there was a period there in the last where they strung 5 or so centre clearances together and put pressure on our defense.
Well done boys!

The (premiership) cup is still half full folks!

That was a much better performance than last week against the Crows. I thought we did pretty well in most areas today except the accuracy of course. We were flat against the Crows, but today the spark was back and some important pieces fell into place:
1. Reid showed he is the real deal against two KPP
2. Leon showed some long overdue spark
3. Maxy is back
4. Reid showed he is the real deal
5. Wellers & Sidey did some nice slick stuff.
6. Blair has guts aplenty and doesn't panic. He stays.
7. Reid is the real deal.

The concerns are with injury to key players so let's hope we get Dids back.
Presti can be given another week if necessary and Goldy stays. Goldy was quiet today but his pace will be needed next week I reckon.
As much as those 7 pieces have fallen into place, I think you have forgotten the 8th and most important piece, that, Reid is the real deal.

We will turn it on next week and win by 10 goals or more.

Yep, will smash the Dogs, far better to be coming in like this and no injuries than over confident, arrogant and players injured or suspended

Next week
In: Brown, Presti, Didak/Medders, Johnson
Out: Fraser, N.Brown, McCarthy, Davis

I hope you're right Cam, otherwise they'll have to set up a special police guard on the West Gate Bridge. And I ain't talking stopping the Dogs' supporters from getting home. :(

Just finished watching the match as I PVRed it because I was working and avoided hearing the scores. All I want to say is &%%& &%%& &%%&. That is shit Beams and Collingwood in general. Again beaten by inaccuracy. It is just not good enough. Why hasn't this problem been fixed, it is clearly our major problem. It been happening all season and now it's finals time and we are limping in after a performance like that. Every time a player is asked they say we are working on it but clearly whatever they are doing is not &%^%&%^& working! Now it is too late. If inaccuracy costs us a premiership.......

Beams and Swan kept us in the game, when Hawks front runners ran riot unattended all day through the corridor.
Whoever selected McCarthy has been sharing Ben Cousins' crack-pipe.
He had the chance to handball to Beams in goal square on 3/4 time to give us a nice buffer, but the selfish turd had a shot instead. Total list-clogger this bloke. Not even close to our best 22 players.
The sooner Presti comes back, the sooner Nathan Brown goes out.
He got us slaughtered against tin-arse Franklin, who must think it's Christmas every time he plays against us.
And we'd all want to hope to Christ that Darren Jolly can play with that face injury, or it's season over.
Now, you'd want to hope that this shitful tackling efforts will cease next week, because that was our worst effort this year with far too many broken effortlessly by Hawthorn. Yet another team playing their grand-final against us, chasing a late-run home final.
Players did look sufficiently flat again after tail chasing Adelaide last week.
Even worse, the game plan is now being disected by opposition coaches, and the boundary line football is totally giving me the shits royally again.
And we can thank Melbourne's ineptitude twice this season that we have secured top spot. Now find that fu*cking lid and sit on it.

Dyso

What a load of bulldust.

This game was irrelevant.

Load up for next week and let's murder those Dogs.

I reckon our second half was very promising in terms of intensity, and take nothing away from the Hawks, they were good from an intensity point as well.

We stuggled in front of goal, but in my opinion I reckon we needed to get a couple of good quarters under out belts after the Adelaide game and the first half today.

Change the bounce of one ball, had Cloke run into the open goal rather than try to bannana it, take away one of Franklins free kicks that weren't there, give Beamsy or Daisy Didaks left boot and we would've won by three points and perhaps not got as much out of the game and probably not be having this discussion.

The other thing I reckon we can take out of this game is stoppages - I'm not sure what the stats were but I reckon the Hawks did us at the clearances and some of our set up work at stoppages was terrible. No doubt that'll be analysed before the Doggies game and Didak will help with that as well.

Tonights game will be interesting but I reckon we'll be alright against the Dogs, especially with Dids and Presti back

- Ben
Good call. Stoppages need attention as do centre bounces.

Very good tune up, and yes, much better effort than last week.

Add BJ and Didak in and that makes our midfield a lot sharper.

Also, Reid has had a warm up and Leroy Brown a rest.

All we need is Presti.

I would say our biggest worry is inaccuracy. I've been thinking all season that one day it's gonna bite us on the arse, and it has. Hopefully it won't happen during finals, but you know what they say, wish in one hand, shit in the other. Josh has played his last game for us if Jolly's right to play next week, and I'd play Leon again if Didak misses. Why? He tackles like nobody's business in the forward half and we need that. Plus he kicked a goal today so hopefully he's on his way to getting his mojo back.
As far as Beams is concerned, give the kid a break. That was possibly the most pressure the kid's had on him in his career so far. Yes he needs to work on his goalkicking but that also goes for most of the team.

^^Beams's kicking has been poor all year though. He's usually good straight in front, but put him on an angle and he rarely goals. Just doesn't seem to be a natural goal kicker.

25-28 this season. That's worse than Cloke's 32-33. With all the crap Cloke gets for his kicking, I don't see why Beams shouldn't come under some scrutiny. Agree though, doesn't deserve to be pilloried for it.

this may be way too early to ask, but if we do win next week, as do hawthorn, are we on the same or different side to them? i.e. could we come up against them again before a grand final providing both teams kept winning?

Go to the finals predictor on the AFL site. It will show all scenarios.
