Faaaarnarke me, where have you been these last few years? You need to get some tapes out and actually watch the kid play. He is both of those things. He has the best vertical leap I've ever seen.

(Mind you, when you weigh about 6 stone 3, maybe it's not so hard to lift! the body up high)

It's going to be a very scrappy match tonight given the weather conditions.

I'm undecided if our side as currently named is the right way to go.

Although the ball will be on the deck a lot tonight and you could make the assumption this would favour our skillful smalls I'm concerned that in the wet conditions if our players can't handle the ball cleanly the bigger bodied geelong defenders might be able to push them off the ball to easy.

Tannin: I know you love Brad Dick and you made a fair point about him being in our best 22 a little while back. But there is no way on God's sweet earth that Dick is a more valuable player than Dayne Beams.

Beams is a harder player, more aggressive, more courageous, at least as quick, at least as skillful.

To be honest I can't believe I'm even arguing that Beams is a better player than Dick. For me it's just obvious. You can argue that Wellingham and Sidebottom are better than Beams. You could also argue that Beams is better than Sidebottom and Wellingham but in my opinion all are clearly an echelon above Dick.

I've seen every game Beams has played and every game Dick has played and I'm pretty sure I haven't missed anything. I remember Beams first game against the Demons in 2009 and I couldn't believe the poise he had for a first gamer. He played far beyond his years. The only way he's disappointed me since is by means of off field indiscretions and everything I've heard is hearsay. He had a quiet 2010 finals series but he's never disappointed me on field and the fact he came 6th in the Copeland trophy last year says a lot.

I'm pretty sure you'll argue that Dick is better than Beams until the cows come home but I'd be interested to hear what other Nicksters think. Everyone? Dick or Beams? Who would you have in the side if you had to choose?

You're dreamin' Tom.

You are looking at a player just back from not one, not two, but three very serious injuries, a player who (in my opinion) shouldn't be playing seniors quite yet because he's only just on the park again and not up to speed and touch yet, and imagining that this is all there is. You are conveniently forgetting just how extraordinarily good this player is. If, repeat IF he can stay injury free, he will be a genuine great of the game, where Beams will just be a very good player.

Oh Tom, Tom, Tom ... I just read thhe rest of your post, and you are seriouly out of touch here.

Beams more courageous than Dick? Rubbish. No complaints about either player - but how much courage does it take to come back from three serious injuries one after the other? And get out there are show courage on the field. Nonsense argument.

Harder? Beams has a bigger body because of Dick's injury-interupted pre-seasons, so yes, Beams is harder .... for now. "At least as quick" - sheesh! Not even farkin' close! And that comment applies double for skilful.

The bottom line is that we are talking about players with different levels of ability. Beams is gifted with good natural ability, Dick is gifted with better than good natural ability, simple as that.

Or to put it even more simply, I am right and you are wrong, as history will demonstrate. :) I don't care too much what the other Nicksters say - I am right about Brad Dick despite the unbelievers just as I was right about Ben Reid when they were all knocking that excellent young 200-gamer.

(Provided, of course, that Dick's body comes good and stays good - which is a real worry).

Triple M news claiming Maxwell out for Goldsack, and for them, Ottens, Ling and Milburn out.

Make of that what you will.

If I had a choice between the two for tonight's game and for the next 5 years I'll take Beams thank you very much.

Although if Dick would like to step up and kick 6 goals tonight I'd be quite pleased.

Rumour doing the rounds that Ottens will be a late withdrawal, would be classic if he does miss out, as I've been abused all week by Cats fans saying he was only rested when subbed at half time last week.

Wood could have a field day against Nathan Vardy (in for Ottens) and Hawkins.

I'd happily accept both Maxwell and Ottens being late withdrawals. :D

This is our biggest test. Without three key players in Maxy, Jolls and Johnno, plus N Brown. Wet and horrid conditions against a 6-0 team.

I don't expect a win tonight - Geelong are scarred and will be hell bent of "redemption", but all I want to see are:

- Cam Wood stand up.
- Davis and Dick not get bullied by the harder bodied Cats.
- No more injuries.
- Didak to continue to improve his form
- Dawes to make an impact physically and not get outclassed by Scarlett (or Cloke if Scarlett plays on him)
- Swan to recapture his best form

I need to know if I need to bring along my super duper wet weather gear.

Wow,if that's the case then it should be game over.I thought that Ottens would totally dominate Wood in the ruck, but if he's out then that's a massive blow for them.
