They're my club, and my tribe, and while i'll have views, i'll stick together with any team and any coach that wears the stripes. Especially a coach who's given so much to this club.

We now play an uninspiring brand that loses games.

I think it's gonna get worse before it gets better. We may go further backwards next year. Cos our footy brand is bottom 4 style and only made to look better by some scrap.
Melliot, I'm curious, which teams play a "good" brand of football? Almost every game I have turned on this year I have turned off fairly quickly because quite frankly it's been boring as bat shit.

Freo copped a lot of flash for their style of game going into the GF but Hawthorn's keepings of - albeit skilful - is just as boring. Melbourne... boring. Sydney.... shut down kings... boring. Carlton.... yeah whatever.... I could go on but I won't.

I think you're drinking from that glass half empty glass again.
I don't think I'm either overly positive or negative. I generally sit positively. But ultimately call it as I see it.

Hawks play a good brand. Port. Cats. Dons almost. I'm not hard to please. I enjoyed MM's brand when it got going. GCS when they get going. North when they get going.

We seem to play ugly yet are defensively skittish.

You must mean a player because as a coach Bucks' only contribution to the Club has been decimating the side that was supposed to be going places and turning it into a laughing stock.

Yes, that's what I meant. I agree that his record as coach is questionable, but he's one of the greatest players Collingwood has ever had, so I'm supporting him where there's doubt. In the end, though, success or failure will tell the story. I just don't think we're there yet.

A fair bit of effort shown for little result yesterday. Skills were terrible as was player discipline at times. Keefe did step up which is pleasing but his kick outs make me nervous lol. A positive player lead burp in the last quarter almost stole the match but wasn't supported by any positive moves by the 'coach' who was missing in action yet again. Reid underdone and can't play a key position down back? So what's wrong with him playing as a loose man ala Maxwell down there? Buckley could have swung Reid down there in the last quarter for little ill effect on the forward line's functioning. Oh well what is done is done. I can't see us regaining a spot in the eight again unless we have five games against Melbourne coming up....(and even then...)

What was the final tally?

I swear we are the only side capable of hosting an interstate side and still losing the free kick count.
Collingwood 18-20 Adelaide. Hard to believe
in the last, it looked like 4 (farmer) and 26 (?) hurts us more than stevic. cloke got molested again and not protected by the umps.

that aside, we had enough forward entries in the last quarter to win it. we let the ball out of the f50 too easily.

The tally says nothing, need to have a look at just where those free kicks were given on the field. If you only get 10 for the game, but they are all in front of goal, rather than 25 that are all in your back pocket, your winning.

I'm over this shit, I vote Cloke be allowed to punch the umpire in the face to show him what he puts up with every time the ball gets near him

We have been playing like a bottom 4 team ever since the 4th quarter of the first scum game, mainly due to shocking disposal both by hand and foot. Also what has happened to our defensive pressure and tackling? There are no quick fixes and this team won't progress until our skills drastically improve 2015 cannot come quick enough IMHO.

We were only 8 months younger than the Crows. We were 6 games more experienced and on average taller and heavier according to the stats.

Our remaining games are: Port (MCG), Eagles (Subi), Brisbane (MCG), GWS (Spotless), Hawks (MCG). We could definitely win 4/5. An important game will be Lions v Crows (Gabba) that might decide if it's us or them in 8th spot.
I think your spot on. And after seeing what they can do in the last 1/4, that. Gusty fight back to come back from being down all game, to being a goal in front, that took a lot of tough guts from a bunch of kids, some half done players coming back from injury, with PENDLES our only 'leader' and a heap of players having to play out of position, against a team that had all it's massive forwards firing from the centre fricken square.

Do not under estimate the loss of Luke Ball and Maxy when it comes to leading the group, and swans sudden brilliant bursts even on one leg, brown our premium defender gone, and Ried half cooked.

Ok I get the disgust with the skills, it's pissing me off too. But the silly stuff that's going to happen, not many are born with a footy nous like PENDLES, most have to earn it.

Positives for me, Harry is really standing up and helping out the kids, he has a real good way about it, he goes in and saves the day, but doesn't bang the kids up about it after, he's got his arm out, and explains things. Sidey is really starting to show the talent I believe he has, for a lot more of the game. Frosty is just bloody magnificent in the back line, and with a bit more support, he is going to be our next defensive general. (Without the brain fades). And I could watch all day in awe, Seeds using his new muscles, and yet still being able to to turn up the accelerator heat, another 5 yards, and he had that smother. Yes 5 yards is a lot, but did anyone else notice he wasn't quitting? Something else that I'm not liking with some of our senior players.

Buckley I'm not commenting on, I'm just hoping he makes a lot of you guys eat your words with a hindsight genius outcome.

Anyway, I know where I will be next Sunday night, seat 11 row hh, aisle 30. Cheers

Woods wrote:Buckley's post-match interview is now up on the club website.

Far ranging and balanced responses touching on many aspects of the game and the season, eg. positioning and performance of players (Reid was "rusty"), umpiring ("no favours" today).

He says game was lost in two short periods of poor play in the first and last quarters when intensity dropped off.

Might be best to have look before waking up to tomorrow's no doubt 'end-of-the-world' media commentary.

I'm not buying into this. Translated, what Buckley is saying is that we could only match it with a 10th placed team playing on the road and on OUR home ground for about 90% of the game.

My view is that we play mostly unwatchable football for 80% of the time! break even football for 10% and very good football for 10%. The best is definitely in us, but we're underachieving massively.

Forget the spin, the season is well and truly over. Our disposal has got worse. Has to be an overhaul at years end with players and staff.

Our job is to say it realistically as it is, NOT to change minds like yours set in hard concrete...

This is a developing team under Bucks. Ups and downs, good and bad play and totally bloody inconsistent like ALL developing teams.
Will peak in 2016. It is what it is.

But feel free to make up your own minds....... 8)

Disapointed , but I thought we had a crack. I think Adams and Langdon showed a lot last night. Our unwillingness to have a crack at goal and handball to each other had me stuffed. The Backs tried hard, but Marley's clanger really hurt us. Beams lead the way as he always does. Chop looked out of sorts. Harry showed a bit, but the crows were too quick when they got it on their pat malone. Felt sorry for Frost had Walker's measure until he got a couple of cheapies.

Think we might just go with an unchanged lineup against the power.

Martin should improve his output now that he's had a taste, Broomhead likewise while Reid has got a full game into his legs.

Seems like no one in the VFL dominated with Fas probably the only one in consideration but from what Bucks said last week he'll have to really earn any recall to the side this time around.

Toovey or Fas the only possible inclusions for mine.

We are!! Nothing surprised us because unlike you lot, we KNOW that having totally unrealistic expectations only ever set you up for failure....
This was always going to be a developmental team under Buck's, nothing more nothing less. This team will peak from 2016 onwards.
For those who want instant success, maybe it is worth considering switching your support to the Hawks or the Swans because I reckon this year's flag is between them for sure.
