It's easy for anyone to be a hard core supporter when you are near the top of the ladder. But the true grit is tested now. Yes we are down. But if you throw out your membership card now, then you are not of the same ilk as you demand from our players.
Your last line is a contradiction. You say..yes we have had unimaginable injuries and yes we have played more young players than anyone else...but "enough is enough" even so!! Precisely for the reasons you have stated, our performances will necessarily be at times below par.
Tonight was, I agree, too far below par to be acceptable, but we have to stay firm and support our team as they seek out the answers and fight to reload for next week. When our young guys start to burn in 2 years time, I want to be able to say "Yes, I deserve this happiness because I was there, supporting our team, even when they weren't winning.
The problem is, there is a genuine and growing feeling that the club doesn't really give a toss anymore, like they are just taking the piss and there as a business to make money and provide golden spoon facilities for the elite. They are living well off your membership money and they know it.
Magpiemax. Tomorrow is my birthday. I turn 61. I was born and bred into a Collingwood family that would not have a bar of anything not black and white. i saw my first live GF in 1966.Even got my mug on the front page of the Sun in Collingwood cheersquad, which,as a country kid on an end of season footy trip, was a blast. I've endured many losing grannies,I've seen the advent of the "Colliwobbles" and all its stood for.I've seen Collingwood win their first wooden spoon,I've seen champions and Duds alike ,but most of all,I have stood fat and proud to be a Magpie, because being part of the Magpie army means something to me,still does. But as Mr T quite rightly points out,The Collingwood hierarchy ,don't give a toss and are simply wanting bigger membership numbers while we get 4.40 sunday games 6 weeks in a row and no one gives a shit. I will continue to be a magpie supporter but with a lot less enthusiasm than I have done for over 1/2 a century.
I don't see how getting flogged while playing a bunch of kids equates to appathy or misplaced goals. I'm sure there isn't anyone in the administration who isn't feeling our pain. As to the draw, that's an AFL concoction over which the club has little influence.

To many passengers that obviously sit down to pee. Jesse White is the "built like Tarzan plays like Jane" player. We were not switched on from the bounce and were simply smashed 99% of the game.
Very disappointing but not surprising from a young squad that need a lot of cement to harden up. We have a long way to go before we will be a top four side.

Very disappointing indeed. Easy to blame the umpires - I did my fair share of that last night, much to my other half's displeasure but fundamentally we have some serious issues. It's the very basic stuff that has my blood boiling today.
How about winning contested ball?
Why not put someone to run with Priddis - sure Beams was able to run the other way but we show Priddis no respect at all.
What about forwards playing in front of defenders when leading up the ground?
How about hitting a friggin' target by either hand or foot?
How about honouring the first lead into space to create some ball movement rather than holding onto it and waiting for the 'perfect option' - only for everything to evaporate and the predicable kick down the line to a pack results.
How about practising some kick in drills with something other than a chip kick wide.
To that note - why is it opposition teams regularly have options in the middle of the F50 when they kick in and we can't? I'll tell you why, it's because all we obviously practice is the chip kick wide and our forwards are so conditioned for it that they leave gapping big holes down the guts.

At least your post gave me a chuckle when there seems little to laugh about.

Bucks could stuff the ten grand fine, and have a red hot go at the umps, a massive difference in free kicks gave those pricks at least six goals. Im not saying we would have won, no way, but the scoreline would have been much better, on a level playing field, for once.

They don't show the way.

Pendles & Beams got smashed by their opposition. Their lack of defensive ability cost us dearly. Priddis killed Em.

Caff. Used to have some pace. Has lost a yard or 10. His disposal was poor too.

Harry. Gee. I've regularly defended his footy. Today he should of wore a WCE jumper cos he kicked to them more than us. Totally butchered it.

Blair. Tries his guts out but hasn't developed. He was OK today but like vast majority of players under Buckley, hasn't come on. He produces the same as his 1st years.

Totally baffles me how selection didn't have one of Thomas or Ball, with Adams out. Another complete blunder that was costly.

Young. Pffft. He's in our leadership group. This tells us where we are at. The fact Armstrong showed more says something too.

White. Has every attribute you could want in a player except an ability to play the game.

Elliott. Scary that a 50 game player shows the way. One that has improved under Bux.

Reid was better. But very limited.

Siddey. Was OK, but fear he was defensively exposed too. Their mids smashed us, so all senior players need to take responsibility.

Keefe I thought was OK. But still has plenty of work to do. But at least he can kick.

Williams has gone backwards.

Cloke. Battled. But if the midfield gets smashed forwards are always going to struggle.

Tooves. Was solid.

There you go. I've vented.

We're 18th (I think) for disposal efficiency. How? Why?

Don't get me started on the umpiring. It wasn't the reason we lost. But it a difference of around 20 was equivalent to an extra mid. It wasn't so much what they paid to them but the equivalent was reciprocated.

Just want this season to end. I'm over it. I don't enjoy our games anymore. I'm more frustrated and angry, than wanting to barrack. I've lost the joy of footy. And it isn't just cos we are losing. I attended nearly as many games in 1999 as I did in 2010 and 2011. The style and teamanship is really missing. And disposal takes me back to the 1999 days.

Maybe I've just got old and grumpy.

AGREED... I feel like you. It's getting to the point it just makes my mood so shitty, its just not fun that it gets to me like that.

Old and grumpy could be a good reason.

mudlark wrote:To say I'm devastated is an under statement. I have been reading the comments today and notwithstanding the disgraceful performance of the "Umpires"??? ,equally disgraceful, considering it would cement a finals position, was the effort of most of the players. There was no heart, apart from a reasonable 2nd qtr, poor disposal, which has been a Collingwood trait now for years and a sense we have once again dropped the ball on recruiting.
I watched every kick of the game and to be blunt ,I feel humiliated to be a Collingwood supporter today. I have been a member of Collingwood for 25 years and I will not be renewing my membership next year. The club has lost it's soul and it doesn't need the likes of me,who yearns for the days when Collingwood at least turned up to play, regardless of the talent.
I'm totally turned off by the modern game and the umpiring??? Nothing more to said there. I know we have had unimaginable injuries and we've played more youngsters than anyone else, but enough is enough for me.There comes a time for everything and I'm going to play golf.FOOORREEE!!!!

my sentiments exactly; just don't relate your bad form on the course to anything collingwood and you might end up liking both sports equal.
Does that mean I throw out my black and white bag, black and white shoes and black and white shirts??? 8)
no not at all. infact buy a titelist umbrella [there black&white] as well and hang it high on miserable days out. it'll be like flying the flag as a proud pies supporter.
