Pretty fair summary Jezza. I like the way you haven't thrown up your hands in despair due to the loss of Howe, but instead call on our players and coaches to find a way to cover his loss, brutal as it is.
Losing faith in Cox after this game however is premature. You couldn't expect a brilliant performance from him tonight. I was happy that he was selected, simply because Darcy Cameron was pretty ineffectual in our F50 last week, and Cox could not have been more so. Indeed, Cox booted a goal so that is proven. We have to cut him some slack. Look for improvement next week. We have a few assets in defence: Schazza, Quaynor, Murphy, Madgen, Ben Reid (even, while he stays on the park can take a great mark), and don't forget Levi Greenwood as well off the half back line.
Noble is a little gem as well.
Maynard, Crisp, Moore are stars and Roughead is a rock as well.
So we have height, and we have brilliant rebound off HB. There is still plenty of defensive talent to weave together in our web.
I am very disappointed but not despairing. We are not out of this yet.

People bagging Noble, seriously, this time last year the guy had just joined us from SA. This season has been covid'd and he wasn't close to our worst. He shows poise, dash and good kicking. The kind of bottom six player than can win you a flag.
More influential game from Crisp, who can also help cover for Howe, possibly inject Quaynor to help there as well. It's easier staffing back roles when you have Moore and Roughhead, Maynard, to build around than find reliable avenues to goal.
Cox will get better, possibly shouldn't have played on a slippery night as they have always led to people calling for his head in the past, but he will get better. Goal was clutch, nevertheless.
Billy struggling to get involved. Ditto WHE. Mayne did serviceable job on Whitfield, but shocking miss for a veteran. Steele did some handy things in the second half getting away from De Boer, Pendles stood up (but could have done with that goal), Grundy too. Moore.

Look, tough loss, but take out the emotion and we can still grow out of it. Howe is a big hit, but remember 2018 anyone? However lose next week and I won't be so upbeat I guarantee you.
Well said, agree with all points u make, unlike the morbid nellies on here, who cant hack a lousy two point loss agaisnt a GF team on their own ground, in sydney. We would have won but for Maynards balls up and some poor goal kicking, we actually beat ourselves really. Learn for our defeats yes, and next week get redemption against the Dons.

The Giants' physical nature is a challenge for us. If we're to be a successful team and match it the best teams in the competition, we have to be able to absorb the physicality of the opposition. I feel that once the opposition gets physical with us, we become rattled by it.
A lot of passengers tonight. Starting to lose faith in Cox, and I'm not sure he's capable of leading our forward line in the future.
Tay Adams appeared a little rattled from his head injury and he is one of our toughest physical players.
I don't think Coxy was suited to the slippery conditions, but he contested well. Give him a chance in the lower humidity of Perth and he could well be influential.

Just watched Bucks' presser. It was so totally appropriate. His demeanour, his body language, was so solemn, so sad, so dignified, so accountable, so measured, and so calm. You could tell from the tone of the journalists' voices that they were in awe of the occasion, intimidated by Bucks' devastation yet strength. They asked their questions almost with timidity. Our team is not based on just one man. We will find a way forward from here.
Bucks also very circumspect about the surface. Acknowledged that it was "very different", but refused to say more. Perfectly done. Without appearing to be whinging, told the AFL and the Giants that we noticed their surface is not standard and therefore constitutes an advantage to them.

I just watched Buck's presser too MTTM and I don't think I've ever seen him so devastated about a player injury and so sad for an individual player. Just pure emotions from the heart for his player's demise..
I'm so hoping that you're right, that we will find a way forward. We did in 2018, all the way to the GF, against all the odds. We can only hope that we can do it again.

Sidey after 200+ games still can’t handle having pressure applied to him no matter where he goes on the ground. He was putrid and showed the same flaws that happens every time he’s under one on one pressure
Did Phillips actually play ? His form line is horrendous this season. A couple goals here and there don’t make up for all the things he doesn’t do
Really feel for Howe his form has been superb
For those calling for Langdon are you serious ?? He didn’t train again this week after his couldn’t handle 15 minute match sim. Knee blew up and he’s back on restricted duties
The thing about our back 6 at the moment is 5 of them are great or better kicks. That’s what sets up so much of our attack.
Scharenberg if he’s fit and able to get out there is logical replacement
He’s a great reader of play and a elite kick and could slot straight in (as long as his knee’s are ok)
Treloar back is vital now we lacked run badly tonight

I have a different take on the match. Unlike the Preliminary Final we didn’t get bashed up by the Giants. Rather we handed out a lot and reversed momentum in the third quarter when things were going south. It was a significantly better performance against them.
Instead I think it was some individual errors that proved costly. Moore played well but also made two catastrophic turnovers. Maynard struggles hard against Greene and also allowed two goals he could have prevented.
Brown and Mayne missed crucial set shots on the fourth quarter.
Grundy was better than last year and took some telling marks. Agree that he needs to mix up his tap work more.
Daicos was again very good.
We did miss Treloar. Cox was his first game back so will improve.
Mihocek kept at it despite a poor night.
WHE and Elliott were largely absent.
JDG did not do enough.
We can improve a lot. I am not disheartened but the loss of Howe who was in career best form is sad.

That game hurt, just like the prelim. That game just about broke me, the AFL nearly lost me, it was a painful reminder.
But losing Howe, seeing his pain, that feels even more devastating today.
