Buckley is on record that he doesn't motivate the team because they should have that in themselves. Some clearly don't. I think after nine years coaching he should have learnt that he needs to motivate some. Too many players just plod along with no intensity.
Agree with others about our game plan of defensive and not much else. Our forward line doesn't score enough because the ball coming in takes three minutes of short sideways kicks and the opposition flood back. There is not nearly enough attacking mindset.
I thought Daicos, Maynard and Grundy were good but the midfield were outplayed by Essendon. Varcoe and Wills need to be dropped. Play some younger guys - Sier, Quaynor, Rantall.
Watched the game listening to music and avoiding the commentators. It was much more watchable.

So you really think Cox into the ruck will fix everything?Magpietothemax wrote:Yeah, alternatives have been suggested. Cox to go main ruck in the centre much more oftanjatsad wrote:There's a lot of talk about Grundy's connection with the midfield but no one has suggested what to do about it.
He can only get the hit-out, it's then up to the midfield to grab it. Grundy can't do everything.
We have had the same midfield coach for years now and constantly see the same results. Now I'm not saying Harvey is the ONLY reason, but enough is enough. He has had his chance. Move him on.
And for God's sake recruit a tall forward. This would make one hell of a difference. Just imagine if we had not royally stuffed up with Lynch, the impact he would have.
Just my 2 cents.
He has absolutely no timing whatsoever.
Cox out would be a more productive move. The experiment is over.

I can’t believe all this talk about De Goey. He was good tonight in a team that was crap.
21 disposals, couple of clearances, 5 tackles.
Ok he didn’t tear it up, but it was miserable conditions and no one else did either.
It’s not all about kicking goals although I will admit, that area needs work. He used to be accurate so it’s in him.

We need to stop overvaluing our players.SteveH67 wrote:Please tell me the rumours of Stevenson wanting out, are false.
This would set us back, if the young stars coming through want to go elsewhere.
If he wants to go and we can get a good trade, then let him go.

Callum Brown is a shell of his former (2019) self as is Phillips.Pies4shaw wrote:In the last quarter, Callum Brown had 8 disposals, a goal assist and a goal. Varcoe had two disposals for the term, one of which was a handball receive in the open for a goal that could as easily have been kicked by any of 4 players.
Brown has the makings of a champion centreman. I have no idea what they think they are doing playing him at half-forward, especially since we have no competent centre clearance mids apart from Pendlebury.
Bloodline aside, Callum Brown and the word champion should never be seen in the same sentence.
I would love to know what his redeeming qualities are, apart from having a crack most of the time, which should be a bare minimum at AFL level. Poor decision making, poor skills including an alarming lack of penetration in his kicking, lack of size, many tackles don't stick despite his efforts and he rarely has any impact against decent opposition. Haven't seen enough of his brother to judge but hopefully in time he'll bring much, much more to the table.
On the flip side, it's very encouraging to see another father-son in Daicos finding his feet.

Who would want to play for us? The horrible media and public attention, 10X worse for similar off field errors. Much blame has to lie with Eddie. Seriously, can we please get a new figurehead who doesn’t attract the horrible scrutiny and vile hate that his attachment to our club seems to bring? In today’s social media world, I would f***ing loathe it.

I’d vote for anyone who would run against him. Problem is, no one can or does.Raw Hammer wrote:Who would want to play for us? I know I don’t, I’ve just had it with the AFL the umpires and footballers in general, as I said in the game thread, make em live in job keeper for a while they might find a long lost hunger. Some players though, clearly are not up to scratch, that’s painful to admit, clean em out now play the kids, treat this like practice matches, clearly we are done unless someone puts a rocket under them, and I don’t see where it’s coming frommasoncox wrote:You don't usually fire up that way TP.think positive wrote:The players should payback the other half of our membership after that, I don’t mind losing if we are not good enough, but a piss poor effort like that is a slap in the face. Stop telling these guys they are awesome, they are not hard done by in any way, pampered, spoilt, the6 don’t behave because they believe their own press, well **** em, 2 weeks running they threw the game in the toilet. **** the Tatts and the haircuts, **** having a drink in season, **** gambling, grow up Boys and earn your overpaid salaries. Jerks
Maynard and Grundy you busted your arse whileothers just quit. JDG. Don’t believe it, your not there yet, you need to nail the money shot. Otherwise your yesterdays news.
I’m glad the club publicly supported Sidey, I hopein reality they make him watch that game over and over.
Just end this hell season now.
And umpire you %$^%$$%, that was a goal,
We are getting more frees at the moment because the opposition are continually scragging us.
De Goey is over rated full stop.
Lacks any consistent 4 quarter game unlike Pendles.
Too many players are ordinary.
Statistically Varcoe is finished has been for 2 years.
A few others like Elliot are going the same way.
OUR forward line isn't Afl standard and our midfield are beaten regularly in clereances.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
