Actually, on reflection, is Healy appropriate for inclusion in a list of the top 300 players who played for the Swans? I should have mentioned a whole raft of more recent players, including Goodes, Kelly, Gulden, Warner, Heeney etc etc. What exactly qualifies Healy to make any comment about anything to do with the Swans - after all, he only played 81 games for the Swans?

… or perhaps it’s Healy’s perfect finals record (4 games, 4 losses) that puts him in such a good position to know what it takes to win a flag?

I wouldn't have Healy up there with the Swans greats that you mentioned, but he was correct in his assessment of Grundy. It appeared to me that the turning point was signing the big contract & it was then that his attitude changed. I expected that as he matured as a player he would have focused on developing his weaknesses - marking, kicking and forward craft. Instead, he said that football was not the most important thing, then rapidly regressed as a player. It's no wonder that so many of us are so peeved with him. Can't blame him for taking the money though - if the club was dumb enough to offer a ruckman so much, good luck to him.

^ And yet he leads the best midfield in the competition this year, having turned them instantly from also-rans to minor premiers. The Swans may not win the flag, given their forward line is poor, but it won't be the ruck that is their problem (unless Thor goes down injured, in which case they cannot win the premiership).

See that’s where your thinking is all wrong
As I’ve said before go look at what happened when they moved Heeney into the midfield half way through last season when Vickey was the ruck
They went by memory like 8-1 to finish the season
It’s not the ruck which has transformed Sydney it’s the move of Heeney into the midfield full time
Sydney’s form line mirrors Heeney’s form line and suspension
Grundy while at best was not the worst player on there team in the first half the season since the time it showed Cox dressing him down big time in the change rooms at half time he’s been close to the worst player in the competition let alone there side
I won’t go over the stats again because they don’t lie
He’s a liability to there chances winning a flag (as he was to ours and Melbourne’s hence why both clubs couldn’t wait to get rid of him)
If Sydney do go onto win a flag (which is highly unlikely) it will be despite Grundy not because of Grundy
Parker Heeney Warner Rowbottom Gulden will have to play out of there skins to cover for all his weaknesses
Hopefully nothing happens to there best ruck prospect in McLean otherwise they will go out in straight sets

He's not a leader.
Not in any sense of the word.
Funnily enough, ruckman for years were known as followers.

I'm looking forward to the Grundy/Briggs ruck duel this weekend.

So Taylor was pissed off he wasn’t picked to play because he was injured … and now the swans have dropped him, uninjured! I always liked him but his parting comments were shit!

Adam Treloar is making this thread his own. There are many worse footballers in the AFL - but you’d have to go a long way to find a softer one.

Pick 46 and a future second-rounder for a premiership? You'd take that deal every day.

Right now Sydney would be thinking they paid massive overs
Pick #46 would have been overs based on exposed form
For 3/4qtrs last weekend Briggs made Grundy look like what he is a VFL standard ruck
Until he suffered a cork in his thigh he owned Grundy which is undeniable

Champion data stats for the game v GWS last weekend
Briggs 26th ranked player on the ground
Grundy 35th ranked player on the ground
Briggs had 14 disposals with 7 being deemed effective (50%)
Grundy had 17 disposals with 3 being deemed effective (17.6%)
For the season Briggs is ranked the 7th best rucks for the season (minimum 15 games)
Grundy is ranked 11th
Briggs is the 256th ranked player in the game
Grundy is the 417th ranked player in the game

Ask yourself this question
If Sydney think Grundy is the answer why did they make an approach to Marshall from the saints prior to him re-signing ?
