True enough:
One of the best ways to understand the US constitution is to read the federalist papers.
https://guides.loc.gov/federalist-papers/full-text
Its not about liking it or agreeing with it; just attempting to understand it in its context to US history.
For example US senators were not always decided by popular vote; up until the 17th amendment in 1913 they were appointed by state legislatures.
So why would a popular vote for a senator be a good idea or a bad idea?
Some argue that the popular vote of senators weakens state legislatures and that the 17th amendment should be repealed.
None of this stuff is simple 'majority rule's when you get into it.
How many people can actually explain the difference between a parliamentary democracy vs constitutional republic?
https://www.britannica.com/topic/democr ... r-republic
At the time the US constitution was written that definition was very much up for grabs.

A good, thorough analysis of the likely outcomes of the presidential election and House and Senate races:

^Yes, horrid piece. But they will need to bury Trump by a margin for the mess to be dealt with to any degree, not simply fall over the line.

538 as at 28/10/2020 US time is giving Trump an 11% chance of winning compared to Biden with an 89% chance of winning.
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/20 ... -forecast/
4 years ago the Republicans could engineer an FBI investigation just before the election which was unprecedented and found nothing but the drama was the turning point.
This time there is Covid and they tried the same tactic with Biden Junior but that bullshit has fizzled faster than teenage sex.
Trump was on 13% likely to win last week.

Thanks for that. I listened to it the other day. I hope the Democrats win in a landslide and take the Senate. Then they won't be able to blame the Republicans for blocking progressive policies. It's about the best outcome progressives can hope for at this stage.David wrote:A good, thorough analysis of the likely outcomes of the presidential election and House and Senate races:
