The Byron Bay Blues Festival has been cancelled for the second year running after a local COVID-19 infection was discovered overnight.

The event was supposed to start tomorrow, and organisers were expecting up to 15,000 people to attend.

....

"NSW Health advises that the Minister for Health (Brad Hazzard) has signed a public health order cancelling the planned Bluesfest over the Easter period," the statement said.

"This action is being taken to minimise the risk of the highly infectious COVID-19 variant of concern being transmitted in the local area, as well as across states and territories.

Gotta love it, a QLD nurse goes to a hens night in Byron and the stripper catches Covid

Meanwhile Victoria sets up a mass vaccination centre at Jeff's Shed which is as busy as a bacon salesman in Jerusalem because the appointment software is buggered and they're turning away walk ins who meet the criteria. Could not manage a brothel next to an army base this mob.

Masks will be mandatory in NSW's north and a raft of social-distancing restrictions will be tightened after a new COVID-19 case was found in Byron Bay last night.

Despite all the partisan point scoring that goes on here about which state handles COVID better than the others,it’s obvious we are going to see outbreaks across the country and lockdowns from time to time.No state will be immune from this. It’s isomething we just have to get used to,as it’s a fact of life now.

It will probably only end when the majority of the population is vaccinated, and we have something like herd immunity. But at the pace the Morrison government is rolling out the vaccines to the states( promising 4 million by the end of March, but only delivering about 500,000 in reality) that probably won’t be achieved until 2030 at the earliest.

Friends of mine (well actually the children of friends of mine) a young couple with a young baby have gone to the Byron Bay Blues festival ( she used to live up there and was an organiser of the festival some years ago)

Hope they’re OK

Well, I guess they're not going to experience any significant noise-induced hearing loss over the weekend.

That's unfair, eddiesmith. There's no mention of it because I dropped it days ago - there was nothing happening. You're allowed to post the links, too, you know. You don't have to wait for me and then sling mud if you don't like the stats I present.

In Victoria, now 34 days in a row of no new community cases. Still the one international flight crew member in Hotel Quarantine. Accordingly, there is 1 active case in the State but no-one in hospital with COVID. 19,430 test results were reported.

And, especially for eddiesmith and Stui's WA Plumber friend, here's the wastewater testing results link: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/wastewater- ... ng-results

As you'll see, they are all negative - I think that is because they are only updated weekly. I'm trying to find where the alerts are and will post that link when I find it. Since these wastewater results don't seem to turn into the "dozens of cases" eddiesmith has promised, I won't keep updating the data. I will, in the usual way, try to update when DHHS issues the "go get tested" directives. But, of course, anyone else who sees the link before me should feel free to post it.
