We need to look for percentage boosters against some of the 'lesser light' teams over the latter half of the season - rather than the top 8 teams which may always be close finishes, regardless of score lines throught the match. A backline cannot perform with 100% efficiency against top teams, even Geelong. Let's be grateful that we had enough score 'on the board' to grab the four points and have a 'day out' against Melbourne next week.

I thought our 2nd and 3rd quarters were sensational. First and Last were bad. Although our last 5 minutes was pretty good because the Dogs were coming, and a few guys stood up.
In particular, Dale Thomas stood up. He was literally everywhere on the field in that last 5 minutes. It looked as if he made a conscious decision to win the game for the Pies. And he hurt himself and was limping a bit for most of the game. Really courageous stuff. In my opinion, he has officially arrived now.
It was good to see our pressure back up. That's the best we've tackled and harassed in a few weeks.
The first quarter was pretty atrocious. I've never seen so many mistakes. Yes it was a high paced match...but that's no excuse for kicking into the man on the mark. It's just a sign of rushing.
But the 2nd and 3rd quarters were unreal. Very clean and we were switched right on.
Great win.

Well I was bloody happy. We won!
I HATE that mob with a passion & if someone was to tell me at the beginning of the season we would beat them TWICE at that shithole of a ground this year, I'd have gladly accepted that result, as I'm sure we all would!
Onwards & upwards, people....
I thought the 40,000 odd crowd was disappointing....I was expecting a lot more.
And I loved that Collingwood chant thing they displayed on the scoreboard too, it sounded awesome!

Thanks guys, greatly appreciate your support I dont really care if I get flamed by the others but enough is bloody enough of this incessant bloody whinging after a WIN. Life is NOT perfect, nor is footy at AFL level. Believe it or not we are sometimes playing against teams that are as good if not better than us. Yes really! Denial doesn't help us. Every damn game is a bloody hard contest, especially as we should know by now that for years, all teams fire up when playing us. We play their grand finals each week. Its not easy as beating each team by 10 goals.
So let's celebrate a hard fought win rather than being negative nellies spewing that we didn't win by more......

Dale Thomas has been our big improver this year. Instead of playing in 5 minute lairy bursts (we have two other blokes who can do this consistently), he now plays a gut-busting, 'team first' game. He saved us yesterday and he saved us against Melbourne. He's become our Mr Reliable and that's an enormous plus come September.
I saw enough in yesterday's game to suggest we are building again. Every team has a slump and it's important to win games when not playing at your best. Better to have that slump now and begin to build. I hope we have a slow build and begin playing our best footy in round 17-18.
Yesterday's third quarter shows the quality is definitely there. Now the trick is to bring on that quality against the Saints and Cats.
I thought two weeks back that Heath Shaw was showing signs of losing the plot; he is not a shadow of the confident, line breaking player we know and need. He needs a VFL run. Time for Goldsack to get a game.

Always prefer to have a 6-7 goal lead and let the opposition to try and run that lead down. History shows that running leads down just doesn't happen very often. In fact the stat I heard on the radio, Historically, only 8% of sides win after conceeding a 30+point lead during the game.
Dogs are a quality outfit. I still rate the Dogs. Susspect they still will be Top 4 or at worst 5-6th. We beat them in 3 quaters and they won one significantly.
Had Medders kicked what he normally does, instead got touched on the line, or Ball kicked an open goal from 35-40m, game would have been over and iced. But we failed to capitilise those easyish opportunities.
Also thought in the last Q, we "took the game on" too much and should have slowed it down with some tempo footy. Go to our kicking spot up leads on the boundary game style. We seemed to get caugth up in the Dogs fast style play and want to do it our selves.
But overall, I'm wrapped with their performance. Our intensity was great. Many great players for us.
L.Brown was a good inclusion. How about his kicking for goal!? When he nailed on from 45m on an angle, I knew it would be our night. I gave him a 1 in 20 chance. He split the middle.
Would suggest he did enough to hold his spot and Dawes will need to play VFL. Although Dawes against young Dees would be a good opportunity for him. Hmm. Something to Ponder.
Josh clearly offers more as a 2nd ruck than Wood. Wood maybe a better 1st ruck than Josh, but not a better 2nd ruck.
Daisy was great. His work ethic and intensity are amazing to watch. He just tries and tries till he is exhuasted.
How important is Leon and Medders to our forward structure? Massive. Hopefully, Medders can find some form.

I don't know if any one else has made comment of this but during the prematch show on Fox it was revealed that the Bulldogs had decked out the stadium with Bulldog banners every where. Eddie was apparently livid and ordered the banners be taken down immediately as it was our home game. Apparently the Dogs gave the excuse that they thought it was their home game.
Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Well said I would love to win every game by ten goals but the reality is we play some very good teams. To disrespect the opposition and call them hacks just denigrates the effort the guys put in to win. (except for Carlscum of course)Lazza wrote:Thanks guys, greatly appreciate your support I dont really care if I get flamed by the others but enough is bloody enough of this incessant bloody whinging after a WIN.
