R.I.P digger you are now with God and in peace. Such a tragic loss. Words are inadequate. Thoughts are with his family, friends, and the great Port Power.
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

just so saddened and cant stop shaking my head.
Saw a lot of him in the VFL and if not for injury would be a regular with us now.
I liked him at the pies and hoped we would get him back.
Quality clubman, person and will be missed by so many.
Rest in Peace JMAC, Condolences to his family and all friends.

Tragic loss of a young vibrant life.

My sincere condolences to his family, his partner and his friends.

Devastating loss. I was always convinced that JMac was going to be a big part of our team in the future and was sad to see him go to Port, though completely understand that the lack of opportunities at the pies meant he was better off with a career there.

I cannot find appropriate words.

I weep when I think of his poor mother, father and brother and what anguish they must be going through right now.

He was one of our sons.

An emergency on GF day 2010.

A NAB Cup Premiership player in 2011.

One of our boys will never be coming home again.

Honour him with black armbands, the banner and if people can hold up #3 signs in a silent tribute to Johnny.

He John McCarthy deserves nothing less.

RIP

News like this really puts things into perspective, doesn't it? It makes all the other threads here seem trivial. He was still a kid - not just a footballer, but a son, mate, brother.... Must be an absolute nightmare for his family and loved ones. I'm sure all of our thoughts are with them. So, so sad.....

Very sad day.
Feel so bad for J Mac's wonderful family.
Lots of people hurting right now which is the mark of a good man that lived a good life and gave so much of himself.

Extremely sad. So young, had a great year with port, future bright, absolute tragedy. I wish all his family and friends my condolences.

I was at work about 4ish this afternoon, and thought I'd check nicks bb on the iPhone. First thing I noticed was that 315 guests were logged on. I thought something big has happened, I thought clokey had announced he was leaving. I scrolled down......................

RIP Macca.
