And we were laughing at Richmond last year for losing to the Suns. At least they lost with a kick after the siren.
GC was far less competitive last season than they are now. We were right to laugh at Richmond.

Make no mistake, GC are a powerhouse in the making. They will play finals next year. They will be a serious flag threat in 2015.

Suns willed themselves to win every contest- we expected it to happen easily.

Many times over the journey, I have stood up for Maxy when friends bag him, but this year should be his last- at least as captain.

Can no longer argue 'great leader' when our backline is ill disciplined and unaccountable.

Also, we had the rub of the green with the umps - yes they were 'gifted' 3 goals- 2 x 50m and Brennan push- yet we got a few cheapies and a few dodgy tackles let go.

Ablett the best player in the competition by an absolute mile
ill be serious and sober for 2 sad seconds

this guy is spot on! all of it

I can hardly believe it. So disappointed. It is hard to believe that the chance of a top 4 position did not seem to put the fire in the belly.
As I feared, we looked too slow with so many talls (Reid, Keeffe, Witts , Hudson).
What happened to the tenacious, accountable football we know that our team is capable of?
I think injuries are still having their impact (Goldie and Beames still not back to top form), but we just cant seem to get that ferocious, competitive intensity consistently enough this year.
Gold Coast are definitely a fast improving team, but we should have been able to beat them.
I hope this bitter loss will challenge our boys to produce their very best against the top teams in the last rounds, just to prove t that we are far better than this.

One other thing we've proven this year is that Collingwood is no longer a good travelling side under Buckley.
Wouldn't matter who was coaching this side. Jock McHale couldn't have done better.

We have played 39 players this year.

The constant changing of the side makes it hard to build momentum and consistency.
It's not worth much.

We just got beat by GC.
I'm certainly not going to end this post by saying "we're going alright" that's for sure...
We just got nutted at the clearances...

Maxy has been a great player, but his time has come, he should retire at seasons end, and join Johnno and dids.

Not sure it's racism if both parties are Caucasian...

Regardless though, it's idiotic to attack the kid just because he's from Ireland.

Time for Ed to make a decision of what's more important to him Collingwood or his ego.

Honeymoon period is over for Ed and Bucks and it's time the pressure is turned up on both.

Miss the finals and all options are on the table.

Make the finals then Bucks has 11 weeks to show us real improvement next year or his contract should not be renewed.

Over to you Ed.

ED has had a great run, but nothing lasts forever. Time for a new broom, and craig Kelly could be that new broom as President.

Can't believe people so discredit the opposition both tonight and against port.
We aren't discrediting the opposition. Simply saying the team we put out on talent was better than theirs. But our players were the one's who disrespected them.

Port tackle fiercely & put enormous pressure on the ball carrier. Gold Coast run & carry & kick to position with great effect.
What is our game plan? After 2 years I'm still buggered if I know. But I do know we are pig ugly to watch now.
We'll have to disagree. Based purely on talent of the respective squads there's fluck all difference and in fact I'd say GCS's had us cold for talent.

Yep.

Letting Abblett do as he pleased was a big mistake too, why Caff wasn't moved onto him I'll never know.

If we had of kicked straight we wouldn't be having this conversation though
Caff was soundly flogged all night by kids that aren't anywhere near as good as Ablett. Imagine what Ablett would have done to him.

No way. That might change in a couple of years but not know.
That's bull. I challenge you to look closely at our players when the opposition have the ball. Their first instinct is to guard space instead of either going to the ball carrier or picking up a loose man. It's the sole reason we leak goals from opposition kick in's. Their is nothing wrong with our list. We have one of the best midfields in the competition when they are switched on. We have one of the best forwards in the competition & used to have a very dour defence until 2012 begun. Our game plan has changed completely & it's failing to get the results this list should be capable of. I can wear when we make mistakes with the ball in our hands. They are skill errors & every player makes them. But it pisses me off no end to watch teams kick to their team mates from one end to the other or to switch play & then kick from one end to the other without one single marking contest or one tackle on the ball carrier. It's not good enough.

We are very quickly becoming a Richmond or North, inconsistent and weak in far too many crucial moments of games.

It's a slight on the whole organisation that we have let our standards slip so low.

Which team will turn up next week? It doesn't matter, because the cracks in the walls have been covered up by tatty wallpaper, and the glue used has been watered down.

For some reason it seems that the word unacceptable has left this club's vocabulary, or the players just don't care.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Come off it. Do you think Caff would have been worse than nobody running with him? Because nobody was running with him. He had a free reign all night.
