Defender, agreed - we did win on those trades for the most part. But yes, our kicking skills and decision making are not up to it, we haven't recruited enough good kicks.
We also play a very inefficient brand of football whereby we have to dominate/have far superior ratios of inside fifty's and shots on goal just to be in the game.

correct weight; if we actually did have more decent kicks in the team we still couldn't utilise there efficiency because we have no system!

Thank god I'm not the only person who can see this. Grab the ball and kick it LONG!!! FFS. Run with it,make the play from CHB.And Frost isn't that flash at spoiling BTW.courtza wrote:One of the many things that concern me about the team is the 2 big backs.
Frosty and Brown just seem to be professional spoilers, they rarely get possies, take marks, kick offensively. They just seem to be really good at spoiling.
Can we afford to have 2 guys like this in the team, Gibson and Lake same job but very proactive, Mcgovern and Schofield, Rance and Batchelor, Thompson and Tarrant etc. etc.
I know Frost is still young but I hope they dont turn Marsh into the dedicated spoiler.

We'll always win the I50 count when we're playing a team that doesn't press up as much, but the majority of those entry's don't mean much because our fwd 50 is flooded.McMonkey wrote:Defender, agreed - we did win on those trades for the most part. I've tried to find the topic about where everyone expected the team to finish. It would be interesting to view that again.
Am I disappointed in whats transpired this year? Not really, I had no expectations this year. You know we are tanking when Vickory can kick 6 goals. We must play the kids going forward.

My expectations was that we could be in the bottom 6 or possibly make the 8 at best, but though we'd jus miss out. We are at the bottom of my expectation.
I was looking for us to build our game. A fall away in the 2nd half of the season would not be satisfactory. Wins against the dees, cats, blues, bombers, and one other top 8 side was a solid build its a fail sEaston conside ring a rEaston able rUn wit injury..

Players who under performed in the second half of the year.
Cloke (never really got going this year)
Pendlebury (obviously carrying something, he can still hold his head high but he wasn't his usual self)
Elliot (same as above but he wasn't anywhere near his best)
Those 3 are arguably our most important players so it's little wonder when their form dropped so did the teams.
Toovey, been horrid for most of the year, he's been a great servant of the club but I think it's time to tap him on the shoulder.
