There's no reason to rubbish Ginni. He was a crowd favourite and will always be a Pies Premiership player. clearly there's been a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes which we will never know, but in pure football terms, he was likely to struggle to get regular senior games with us next year. Not only had we recruited Schultz, but let's not forget we might have a fitter and better Johnson in the mix as well.
Given that football is a business and a career, for a limited number of years, it made sense for Ginni's manager to explore a more secured playing future for the lad.
Sure Ginni is a dickhead, but that's always been part of his charm. It's part of why so many Pie fans loved him. I wish him well, except when he plays against us. I trust Wrighty and co for having secured the best deal for Collingwood.

I feel kinda weird , strange , looking at the team Premiership photo now, on the kitchen wall, with Jack bottom left, looking so happy, with his likewise teammates, such a recent pic, such a shame. sigh.

Asking questions such as why was he dropped unexpectedly just before the game after being selected for the King's Birthday clash against Melbourne?

Pretty crushed that Ginni has left. It seems like we did nothing to try to keep him, which I find very strange.
It just seems so bizarre that a Premiership Pie should just fly off almost immediately after the ultimate victory.
Hawthorn has offered him a 3 year contract, which provides him with more certainty than if he stayed with us. Clearly, he was worried by our recruitment of Schultz, which will make it even more difficult for him to sustain a place in the team.
Yet we have lost a young man who energises the Magpie army and also the team around him. He has been improving his tackling and pressure game over the last few weeks of the season, which is why he earned a position in our GF team.
As a result of winning Schulz and losing Ginnivan, it seems to me that this trading period has been about giving up alot to get alot, which is not that brilliant.

Not that I want to compel people to only rant based on facts - but the AFL trade thread is reporting that he didn't request the trade. Speicifically:
"As of this morning he has agreed to be traded to Hawthorn. Both teams met last night to hash out the deal. Both clubs agreed to swap future second round picks as the basis of the deal. Ginnivan hadn't requested a trade, but has now agreed to be traded."
Like everything about the AFL (including everything Collinmgwood ever does or says) that report may be tripe but it does seem that Collingwood showed him the door.
Word on the street is, he met the Hawks earlier this week, he wanted out, lets face facts. I fear we have just made our bogey team, whom we have not beaten since Jesus wore sandals, even stronger, and they may well meet us in Finals next seaon, beat BOTH grand finalists, this season too.
Don't borrow trouble mate.
They finished where they finished for very good reason.
Middle of the pack.
They will need to improve drastically to threaten next year and Ginni won't bridge that gap.
Actually Hawthorn finished 16th. Bottom four. They are not expected to challenge next year and you are right Ginni won't make much difference. I'd bet he is out of the side before the end of the year. A one trick pony who always goes to ground - too small, too slow. 2022 was an aberration. My only regret is that he has a premiership medal when Johnny Noble doesn't. That's luck for you.

It seemed to me like the sort of player that would rather cover themselves in glory rather than do what was needed.
Spot on. He was the one player on our list who was always for himself. Talent is not even half of what makes a great footballer. The fact he wouldn't listen to Sidey who nailed his critical goal tells us everything. Sorry to see Taylor Adams go, but I think we have dodged a bullet in letting Ginni go - the last offseason should remind us of that.

I think when the truth comes out that will be shown not to be true. Toxic for a club culture that is built on family might be more to the point. From what I've heard most of our players will be glad to see the back of him.
Ginnivan and Noble

Dunno mate, id assume most would be as shocked as we are over what has transpired in a mere two days, his best mate is Naicos I have been told, wonder how he is feeling now. ? Still a shock to the system ,never seen the likes of this before, the Cup has not even been mounted yet, properly for display.

And Noble was not good enough to get picked.

I don’t think it’s even been engraved yet has it?

There’s obviously more to this than we’re being told.Like for example the King’s birthday game where Ginnivan was unexpectedly dropped.Fly came up with two different reasons for his dropping, first saying that Ginnivan was injured, then saying he was being ‘managed’.So clearly the kid does have behavioural issues that only the club knows the full extent of.

I think it's most illuminating at how this trade has divided Nick's.
Put that sort of divisiveness inside a tight knit playing group and you have an explosive mixture.
